I like him too but dense and intense can most describe his coverage. Recently stopped following him on Twitter because it was just too much.

I agree, I just subscribed last week finally and the eagles stuff is really good, love Kapedia and his weekly Q & A with Banner is awesome. The Phillies / Halladay coverage has been great too, looking forward to seeing how it is when actual baseball stuff is related. I’ve been trying to get into the sixers this year (watched the 2nd quarter on last night, and I’m fully ready to jump on the bandwagon) but the writing has a bit of entry barrier for me. I haven’t seriously followed the NBA since the mid 90’s and a lot of the stuff has changed, or at least it’s not how I remember it, Bodner is a really good writer so I’m sure I’ll get it.

The flyers stuff has been disappointing though, I don’t know anything about advanced hockey metrics, definitely not opposed to learning about it, but the writing is dense and not easy for a novice. I haven’t read Justin Bourne’s piece from a few days ago, but I’m hoping it’ll help explain some of the stuff they are writing about.

I think they do explain the stuff, it’s just that so much of it seems to be “well there’s no real correlation for this, and this went wrong too, and it doesn’t match the eye test but here you go.” And some of the articles are just long. I don’t mind dense, but long becomes a real grind. Everything seems like it’s the last piece of writing on earth.

Like I said, I just got the sub and have only tried a couple articles and got disinterested quickly. I’ll soend some more time with it going forward, just not grabbing me yet.

Advanced hockey stats have never grabbed me the way baseball ones have, and I’ve spent some time trying to figure them out.

Hockey analysis as a whole is a pretty dense thing to start with. Unless of course you are looking at something like +-

Right, which is why I’m glad I no longer read Carchidi more than once in a blue moon. But Charlie’s stuff is too dense. It’s like Goldilocks I guess. I want something just right...

Yeah I dont have a problem with the ejection for that play, but only doing it after seeing the replay on the scoreboard is not great.

Jeez, it's a tiny puck and a pretty big net, but they can't seem to find it.

Is it time to start questioning Hextall? The coach looks like a bad hire, the Hartnell trade was terrible and the Weise signing an F-. Our goalie situation has to be one of the worst in the league too with no help coming anytime soon. I like Hexy and he's made a lot of good moves too but something's off with this team. Homer left him in salary cap hell but the players performing are all from Homer (aside from a no brainer high draft pick in Provorov). What a blah team.

They are pretty much what I expected coming into the season. A team on the fringe of the playoffs.

I feel like that's what they are every year... same old situation... I have nothing against the core of G, Jake, Simmonds, Couturier but they've won nothing and progressed nowhere... while promising goalies might be in the pipeline, we are still throwing Elliott and Neuvirth out there... who are basically Jeff Hackett and Roman Cechmanek... seems like everyone else comes into a Carey Price, Braden Holtby, Henrik Lundqvist once in a while... who was our last star goalie... Hextall? Pelle? ... we have a lot of young talent but since Ghost's rookie run, no one has really blown up outside Provorov's excellence... Patrick looks like the real deal though... just doesn't seem to be any real identity here... and yeah, Hakstol looks like another failed coach too... maybe they need to lure a veteran sure thing coach here, I dunno...
Even if you get run over by a clown car and pissed on by a busload of school children, it's still your responsibility to interpret the meaning of the event and choose a response

Elliott and Neuvirth, quite frankly, have both been very good this season. It's not the issue right now.
