KC's 1st-round pick from two years ago (RHP Ashe Russell, #21 overall) is taking a mental break from baseball and is likely done for the season

Yeah he is going to be a HoFer. The numbers he puts up are insane. He is also like 3'5 tall.

And Angel Hernandez should be sued for ever wearing an umpiring uniform. Laz Diaz doesn't have shit on him.

Signed as a 16 year old free agent by Houston, still only making 4.5 million this year at age 27. astros o have options the next two years of 6 and 6.5 million. I think they'll take them. (unless they extend him for huge bucks, of course).

Sorry I'm going down a nostalgic road trip, Cole was always my favorite phillies, on the day of his first MLB start, I'll never forget this, I was working just outside NYC and had helped to organize a bus trip from the office to a Yankees/A's game (I planned it, getting the company to subsidize the buses and picked the A's because moneyball and the Philly connection), but then it turned out to be Cole's first start. So I brought a portable xm radio that carried every mlb game and wore a phillies jersey to yankee stadium and listened to his first start in cincy against the reds. Ever since then I felt like he was going to throw a no hitter. Even when I couldn't watch his starts I'd follow on the portable xm radio or later at bat apps or whatever and see how many strike outs he had, how few walks and was always just a little internally disappointed when he'd give up his first hit, especially if it was like in the 5th or 6th inning or later. Throughout his career here, despite the ws MVP and every other thing he racked up, including the kinda weird combined no hitter he started, I always wanted to see him throw a complete game shutout no hitter in red pinstripes. Going into the '15 season when it looked like he was going to be dealt finally, I hung on every single one of his starts hoping for that no-hitter. Eventually it came down to that start at wrigley before the trade deadline. I was working on the yard, listening to the game kinda figuring the dream was dead. Then it got to the sixth, and then the seventh and it was still going. I had to abandon ship on my yard work and head inside to watch. The 8th was a blur I just wanted the phills offense to make outs so Cole could get back out there and deal. I'll never forget that 9th, especially odubs almost misplay on the final out, I couldn't breathe for a second, and when he came down with that ball, it was easily my 2nd favorite phillies moment, behind wfc and just edging out the '07 division clincher.
