I'm ok with Houston and whoever wins the ARIZ/COL wild card game

same. Houston is a pretty cool team imho. Springer and Altuve, especially. George Springer is a person who stutters. He does great things for the stuttering community by promoting acceptance of self instead of seeing oneself as flawed or needing to be fixed.

Hey hey hey KC holds the second wild card in the AL right now and I'll be damned if I ever root for an Astros team to win anything after 2005.

Ex-hometown Indians are in , the Orioles still have a bit of a a shot and there's always "whoever is playing the Yankees," so the AL is not really a problem. NL all I got is the Los Angeles Utleys. Once he retires I'll go back to hating them again.

Seriously. No Cardinals (knock on wood) or Giants already make these playoffs more likeable.

D-backs, Astros, Indians, AL wildcard, and Rockies. Then of course, whether you like them or not, Yankees and Red Sox tend to make things a little more exciting.

I was looking at the 2017 hall of fame balloting and besides seeing that old friends Pat Burrell and Matt Stairs got bounced without a single vote in their first years of eligibility (sad but unsurprising), Jorge Posada was eliminated after only one year of eligibility, albeit with 17 votes.

I surely would have thought New York bias alone would have kept him on the ballot, but am I missing something? 17 years, all with the Yankees (a rarity for any player in this day and age), a 121 career OPS+, 42.7 career WAR, and all for a catcher. Looking at b-r's HOF monitor stuff it does look like he would have clocked in below average for hall of famers at that position in most respects, but not exactly out of the argument either. You'd think all the WS rings would have given him the intangible thing.

Just kinda stunned he didn't get enough votes to stay on the ballot a couple of years. I can't think of a better catcher for the "oughts" decade, at least from an offensive point of view, and he stayed clear of the steroid thing.

did anybody watch the cubs/giants game last night? It was on at the Watering Hole (no sound). I'm specifically liking one play- a routine fly ball clunked off the cub RF's glove, and the batter was running hard all the way and got to second. The clunk didn't go far, but if he had half-hearted it he would've been on first instead. Just wanted to throw out some props to the Unknown Hitter.

The unknown hitter was Denard Span on a Jason Heyward error

Joe West suspended 3 games after calling Adrian Beltre game's biggest complainer in USA Today, per WUA. Union strongly opposes suspension.

I've mentioned before that I'm not a big fan of Beltre as a personality (whiny and short-tempered being part of that), though I love him as a player. Joe West I'm neither a fan of his personality or performance.

That said, I can't see anything he said that merits a suspension. And Beltre's reaction is admirable.

bad look for the guy that calls strikes and balls to say a certain player is a whiner

And Beltre probably would have been fined if he had said West was the worst umpire in the league so you have to keep things somewhat fair.

former ump Ken Kaiser passed away at 72. He worked two World Series but was one of 13 umps that wasn't rehired when they were locked out in 1999
