They gave Greg Bird a cortisone shot in his ankle. Hope he doesn't rupture his achilles like Howard.

Orioles have allowed 5 or more runs in 20 straight games. Longest streak since the 1924 Phillies.

Perhaps, but in 1971, the year after the collision, Fosse was once again an all star catcher and a gold glove winner. 1970 was the only time he posted an OPS+ above 100, except for 1976, when he once again hit over .300. Those 16 home runs in the first half of the 1970 were more than he hit in over 1200 minor league plate appearances.

Sure, one can say that that half season was a marker of his true potential and he would have gone on to be a star if not for the collision. That's certainly the story Fosse has been telling at regular intervals, and why not?

I tend to think his career would have taken a very similar shape to what it did anyway, and think there's more evidence that that's the case.

And I hate Rose.

You are correct.

Look at his 1973 SB/CS numbers. He got really messed up in 1974 in some sort of clubhouse brawl.

http://didthetribewinlastnight.com/blog ... r-catcher/

The true facts are his career was badly effected by the 1974 clubhouse brawl. Much more than the Rose collision. Rose went on the DL after the All-Star game jawn.
Teams lie, sometimes for good reasons, sometimes for bad. They do it to get an advantage while they look at the trade market or just because they can

This is insanely insulting to Johnny Bench who hit 22 HR in 350 AB as an 18 year old in the minors. The two aren't and would never have been on the same planet with or without the collision.

Maybe people outside of Cleveland don't know how good Fosse was and was expected to be.

I'd have to think an Indians web site is going to be a bit biased. As someone else already pointed out, Fosse had something like 15 HR in like 1000~ minor league AB. Johnny Bench, that ain't

I can see why Wally, who played at 5' 9" 160, would jump at the opportunity to call someone a "pipsqueak."

He was more entertaining than I thought. And very polite to the catcher.

Anthony Young passed away from an inoperable brain tumor at age 51. He was the Met pitcher that went 1-16 in 1993 after going 2-14 the season before

Trea Turner has stolen 7 bases in Washington's game with the Cubs tonite.

It's the 4th inning
Yes, but in a double utley you can put your utley on top they other guy's utley, and you're the winner. (Swish)
