"7/22/2013","JL told RA that we would consider Aaron Altherr. RA said that seemded like a reasonable ask and he was still evaluating where he was. He would get back to us."

probably should've done it

Local Mariners are really kicking some Butts lately. They have the second best run differential in the AL. Two guys are hitting the ball well for them, Cano and Seager. Zunino is doing pretty well with the bat and is getting a great rep as a catcher. They have some other guys who are Ok I compared to having lots of awful hitters in recent years. Still not a great offense but good enough a lot of the time.

The pitching staff is the killer though. King Felix is having a monster year. He's 10-2 but his record is misleading. He's pitched better than that. The rest of the starting staff has been doing good work since May. Chris Young, the tall guy is having great success despite not striking out a lot of guys. He's control long the runs via the homer and that is crucial for him

Taijuan Walker is ready to get going now too so things are looking really good.

The Bullpen of cast offs and unheralded youngsters has been outstanding.

Pretty kewl.

One thing I do know. They have a LOT of busts and near busts. Going back to Clements, they've had four best or close to best hitting prospects who kind of blow. Plus guys like Saunders and Franklin and Miller who have pretty much just struggled.

I'm not sure how that effects org ratings but it drags them down from number five to number six most likely.

Sort of. Wilhelmsen was suspended for smoking reefer several years ago and the M's found him tending bar somewhere in Montana.

And they have Logan Morrison as well.

@magelb: Astros to call up Domingo Santana, according to @brianmctaggart. So all four Phillies traded for Pence are in MLB less than 3 years later.
Do you think April is too early for a Roger Dorn night?

Eventually this day would come when the people who were saying stuff like "who have the phillies given up?" have to deal with these prospects finally making an impact at the big league level. The only question is how much impact.

It will be interesting to analyze over the next 5-10 years.

Cosart is the scheduled starter for tonight, so it's possible tonight's game could feature all four players traded by Amaro...

Cosart is doing pretty well although his k rate, 5.9, doesn't seem to match his stuff. I think he gets a lot of grounders though. Still just 24, young for his age.

Zeid is no youngster and his ERA is 5.4ish.

Villar, Oswalt deal I think, is back in AAA I guess. oPS of .597 although he's young for his age.

Singleton is also young. Hitting .198 with a .662 OPS.

Santana is a guy we Shouldda been able to keep. He has torn up the minors power wise. A lot of questions about his hit tool. Also young for his age.

Singleton can be a star. Cosart should be a solid starter. I think Domingo will also be a good corner OFer. We gave up way too much.

Two other guys we temporarily traded to the Astros, Happ and Gose are also in the bigs. With Toronto. Happ isn't really all that good and Gose has struggled with the bat but he does walk pretty well. Not stealing bases so well. SSS.

Worley is doing well this year too, after 3 games, and wasn't an Astros of course.

D'Arnaud has been stinky. Carrasco is with Cleveland. A reliefer with a good FIP. Anyone else in the bigs? May should be. He's pitching well at Rochester. I don't know why the Twins don't bring him up.

We all have to deal with it, actually. And, it remains true that very little of what was traded away has made an impact.

Which is not to absolve the Phillies. They probably didn't develop these guys well in some cases, and/or may have held onto some of the wrong guys
