After an Estero man struck out with his high school honey, he wrote letters to her and her pro ballplayer husband saying her new love was a "Werthless" cheat who scored as much with women as he did on the field, according to a lawsuit filed last week in Illinois.
Los Angeles Dodgers right fielder Jayson Werth filed the lawsuit in Cook County Circuit Court against 27-year-old Ryan M. Root, contending that Root mailed at least 19 letters to Werth and his wife Julia, her parents and their neighbors.
In these letters, Werth's suit says, Root poses as a fictitious Florida woman named "Ange" and her outraged father, writing that Werth romanced her and got her pregnant before moving on to two other women. And she had the videotapes of his sexual escapades to prove it, Ange wrote.
"They are very happily married," Werth's lawyer, Mark Fedota, said Tuesday, denying Werth had any affairs. "It has caused them severe emotional damage."
