The rain would have mellowed the victory celebration.

WAIT WHAT

Honestly, I think that'd be a good idea.

Okay, someone please tell me what the difference is suspended to rain delay perhaps up to 24 hours later, and the game being suspended? What am I missing here?

In the rain delay, he could've re-started it at 5:32 am. In this scenario, they won't re-start it before 5 pm (most likely).

The scoreboard said the game would resume no sooner than 8PM tomorrow. Which thanks to Obama, means like 9:00 or something.

THAT'S IT I'm voting Republican, I've seen the light!!!!!!!!!!!!!

About time something shook you out of your daze.

Obama's on the phone to Selig right now... "all according to plan, eh Buddy! I told you ACORN could arrange anything..."

Obama's address is on Wednesday night, not tomorrow night.

its not an address...he isnt president

Uh, you don't have to be President to deliver an address. Try googling "Obama prime time address" and you'll see.

If they want to show goodwill to the fans, free parking tomorrow if you show a stub.

It's unfair to make people pay 12 bucks again to park for a 3 inning game.

11:32 p.m. ET
More from Selig, who says there is no chance this game will be picked up in Tampa. It will be resumed in Philly.

"We'll stay here even if we have to celebrate Thanksgiving here. … It will definitely be a night game. It will be the same starting time whether it's Tuesday night, Wednesday night, Thursday night or whenever."

Game will officially resume Tuesday (11:25 p.m. ET)
The game will resume Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET. Here's what Bud Selig just said at the news conference:

"We've talked to the Phillies … it will be a usual starting time of a game, and we'll know many hours beforehand. We have to watch the weather. This is tricky.

"We want to get up tomorrow, talk to everybody, see exactly what the situation is. … I don't want to speculate now. We're not going to resume until we have decent weather conditions."

By the way, click here to keep updated on Philadelphia weather over the next few days.

They won't say when it will start because they are afraid of rain tomorrow night.

As of right now, it doesn't appear as though rain will be a big issue tomorrow night. The weather will stink until tomorrow afternoon.

That said, I would have done the same thing if I was running MLB.

You can't end a World Series because of rain.

Then the game should have been suspended after the bottom of the 5th, since the Rules of Baseball can be amended by Selig at any time.

Exactly, why would he wait, unless he has a thing for debacles? He should use his supreme authority to take away that last run and have the teams play the last half-inning over because they were played in unplayable weather conditions. But that would make too much sense.

Because he was hoping TB would tie it so he could suspend it and not have to exercise that power and get slaughtered for it? I would have done the same thing.

The Phillies are up 3-1 with an extra AB for Game 5. Just fucking win and stop acting like pussies. Life is hard.

It's Murtha's fault. And in a spirit of bi-partisanship, it's also Ted Stevens's fault.

Stupid question: What day would Hamels be scheduled to throw on the side? Is there any chance he could continue, seeing as how he hasn't been removed from the game?

FWIW, I heard somebody talking today about how he generally stays sore longer because he's thrown so many innings this year.

Which is a roundabout way of asking, "wWhen could Cole pitch again? And for how long?"
