While I'm excited for the Sixers - I'm also realistic. It's a long way from converting assets to building a team. I believe the Embiid announcement is specifically to lessen the blow of an imminent trade of Okafor, which I believe to be a mistake. Unless they could do something we've never seen and leverage Okafor in to getting Ingramm AND Simmons - I don't think they can get fair value for Okafor and 53 games of a 19-20 year old don't tell us enough info. If he ends up being a problem for us in Boston for the next 8-10 years - I'll be very pissed.

Even getting #3 pick. Can you say "Jerry Stackhouse". We got Stack at #3 the year before AI at #1. This isn't like the NFL.

The consensus seems to be that only Simmons and Ingramm have the big big upsides to stardom. (doesn't mean some 1-2 other players won't become ballers from this draft, but we don't know who those guys are?)

Maybe there is nothing LA would take to not get Ingramm? But if that deal can't get done - just keep em all. Where are we if Embiid never plays and Okafor is leading Boston with 22 a night and 8 boards? While Nerlens is up for a new deal in 2 years giving us 8 a game and 8 boards and 2 blocks ? And Embiid is on Good Morning America ?

This league is about 3 point shooting now too. So getting a point who can play some D, is nice n all - but Ingramm has star potential. A true scorer at the 3, with Simmons at the 4 and Embiid at the 5. That's starting to be something Neol and Saric off the bench. That's depth. So if you are moving Okafor make a bigger play with LA and get the top 2 guys. Otherwise - lay back and see how it shakes out. Could turn out that Simmons and Okafor and some outside shooters get us in to playoffs in 2-3 years. Can Saric play D? Does he have Iggy cardio? Lebron is 31, not 35 so he's going to be a factor another 3-4 years in the east at least.

Be smart Sixer's no need to rush or blow it - after Hinkie set it up so nicely... be patient. Next year is not a playoff run. It's a find out if Embiid can stay healthy and let Ben get some minutes - and let Okafor develop - etc... and we have more draft picks coming...

Have to remember we still have pick swap with Lakers, Pick swap with Kings, and the 2019 kings first. Plus our own probably top 5 pick. Still more pieces to add to the mix.


Thursday is huge not just because of Simmons, but the way this franchise moves with some of the guys already on the roster. More interested in what they do with the other pieces now with Simmons officially on the chart.

That the Cavs probably win if Kyrie is healthy for the series and Lebron is a god.

I never said LA wanted Okafor or is in the mix.

I said, I'm not interested in trading Okafor a back to the basket scoring 7 footer for a college G with average shooting and ball handling and some D. Not yet.

Okafor is insurance on Embiid. And I want equal or greater value to give him up after 53 games. These guys don't grow on trees.

Put it this way would you rather have Festis Ezeli? Andrew Bogut? Trystan Thompson? There are 3 guys who played the 5 in the finals and Okafor has more upside and talent than any of them. Tim Duncan is almost done. There are not many notable traditional centers in the league. EMbiid is a pipe dream. Guys with complicated feet problems at 7 feet in the NBA don't have long careers. If any career.
