Looks like Hinkie overplayed his hand. If you're collecting assets, why not add another? Why care if Harris, et al spend another $15MM of their gazillions? What good does another $8.5MM of cap space do you this year? Rather have the asset.

You could use that money later for something more worthwhile.

they could likely buy a late first for half of that money if they wanted to.

Tell me if I'm off base. Would it be possible for the Sixers to make a deal, possibly a four team deal, where the centerpiece would be the Sixers getting Wiggins in exchange for sending Noel to the Minnesota and taking on somebody's bad contract? Obviously Minnesota would send Love to Cleveland and would receive other things, probably something else from Cleveland and whatever we get from somebody for taking on a bad contract. I have no idea what the details would be, I'm just wondering if Noel could be the centerpiece of such a deal for Minnesota?

they're linked to every available player for taking on salary. Lin was one of the top names to dump out there, i'm not concerned about missing out on more assets. hink is sticking to the flow chart

There is no contract in the league bad enough that it'd be worth giving up Wiggibs to get rid of it

I wanted Lin cause out backcourt freaking stinks, where as the front court seems to be progressing quite nicely. Lin would have been a nice stop gap.

We are not getting Wiggins, not sure what everyone's obsession is with him. Let it go.

The real question is: Where do we go from here? Are we out of the asset acquiring game for the moment? Obviously the Lakers stole our thunder with the Lin deal resulting from the Bosh signing. The other big fish scenario- Carmelo Anthony signs with the Bulls. Would they need to unload some bigger contracts to make that happen? Can we get in on the Boozer contract and acquire some assets? I agree with everyone that stated that this would feel like a lost opportunity if this FA signing period comes and goes and we are still sitting with all the salary space.

they'd have to trade or amnesty Boozer and also dump Dunleavy as well. Dunleavy is pretty solid though, I think a team would want him

Why would anyone want to trade Noel, particularly after we just saw him on the court for the first time and he looked fantastic?

Wiggins is a better fit and has one more year on his rookie contract.

It's never gonna happen, but still.

Chris Broussard ‏@Chris_Broussard 9m
Source: Cavs have told Wiggins he's not being traded. TWolves want Wiggins. Cavs will try 2 do it w/out losing Wiggins. Must find 3rd team

Hello there! Here's my stab:

CLE- Love
MIN- Thad, Waiters, CLE 1st
PHI- Bennett

T-wolves would have to be dumb to do that deal.

I think the T-Wolves expectation that they are going to get the #1 overall pick for an unrestricted FA to be is equally dumb.

That UFA is sort of helping their stance there since he is already all but trying to re-up in Cleveland. Love>>>Wiggins by far. I think Cleveland will give in. If not GSW might finally cave with Thompson.

Substitute Thad for a future Sixers 1st and you might have something the Wolves would contemplate.

What's to stop Love from finishing out the '14-'15 season with the T-Wolves, and then signing with Cleveland as UFA, with no compensation to MIN? CLE's long-term picture is much better off with Wiggins and Love, is it not? A one year delay might be worth the long term ramifications. I don't think that this scenario will play out, but the threat is certainly on the table. Love is a significant upgrade over Wiggins right now, but is 1 year of Love >>> multiple cap friendly years of Wiggins?

During the draft, there was a lot of conversation that the Celtics (at pick #6) and the Lakers (at pick #7) where possible landing spots for Love, with the lottery pick being the primary compensation. Fast forward a few weeks, and the asking price is up to #1 overall. Strange little market adjustment, don't you think?
