Too much noize to trust much.

I originally wanted Wiggins. And I'm hopeful, that like many before him - that we can't know at age 19 or whatever he is, what he can be at age 24-25-26. The upside has to be there and almost all players are a risk. If they maneuver to get Wiggins, I will not complain and be happy.

If everything gets hinkie - and Wiggins and Parker are gone and we're still at 3, I also won't complain if they take the shot on Embiid. The comparisons to Olajuwon are just too enticing.

Exum has moved up a lot. Kid seems super talented, but as everyone points out - he's done it against inferior competition. The thing is -- you can't fake the skills he's flashing. He's NBA. Is he better than 10 other guys? No idea. But he has a future in the NBA? Starter? Star? He too is what, 19, 20 ? What will he be at 24-25-26? Probably a lot better than Evan Turner turned out to be.

What really aggravates me, is that when the Sixer's have a 'tank' year, one of worst seasons ever -- we get punked by lucky Cleveland and worse Milwaukee -- AND -- LA and BOS have down years putting them in top 10. If we end up with Exum, a solid player and BOS or LA ends up with Wiggins or Embiid especially Embiid who becomes the next Olajuwon, I'm gonna lose it.

Every time I think about #10 overall pick, I remember Leon Wood. Who had a GREAT career, as a referee.

If the top 3 guys are in truly in a class above all the others -- no doubt others will be solid NBA players, a few might even star a bit. But if the top 3 have chance to be franchise guys? Gotta end up with one of em, right?

Once upon a time a 2nd round pick meant something. But with expansion, there are twice as many teams as there were 40 years ago. So 3, 2nd's - meh... maybe you get some bench players to fill it out. Find some guys with a singular skill. An undersized guy who can't defend but can shoot the lights out - for that spark of 10 points off the bench when you need it.

Excited to see how this plays out. If we have ANY of the perceived top 3, I'm good. I'm also willing to wait a year to see Embiid on the court. We just waited a year or Ner. I wouldn't mind have a lottery pick again next year either.

Of course, how odd that Melo and Lebron amongst others are FA right now. And we have loot.

Uh, six hot takes. Got it.

1. Exum transitions to SG by his third year.

2. Payton becomes the best PG from this draft class.

3. Wiggins is a perennial All-Defensive player, but never gets his handle tight enough to be a legitimate offensive threat.

4. Parker doesn't lead his team to the playoffs during his rookie contract despite averaging 24 PPG over those years.

5. Embiid will be injury riddled and a non-factor for his first team/contract. After that, he'll have a three-four year stretch where he's one of the best centers in the league, but his career will be cut short by injuries and he will be out of the league by the time he's 32.

6. Gary Harris ends up being a better player than Stauskas and I cry myself to sleep every night.

Good post, but I disagree with this. Looking at recent history, you can see that second rounders have given us a lot of solid NBA players.

2011 featured Kyle Singler (33), Chandler Parsons (38), Lavoy! (50), and Isaiah Thomas (60)

2010 (a weak draft overall) featured Lance Stephenson (40) and some other random rotation players.

2009 featured DeJuan Blair (37), Jonas Jerebko (39), Jodie Meeks (41), Patrick Beverley (42), Marcus Thornton (43), Chase Budinger (44), Danny Green (46), and Patty Mills (55). You were more likely to get a good player from 37-46 than you were from 20-30.

2008 had Pekovic (31), Mario Chalmers (34), DeAndre Jordan (35), Omer Asik (36), Mbah a Moute (37), and Dragic (45).

2007 had Carl Landry (31), Big Baby Davis (35), Josh McBob (37), Marc Gasol (48), and Ramon Sessions (56).

You get the point. There are good players in the second round. About 1/3 of second rounders end up not playing in the NBA, which is a lower number than a lot of people guess. Also, we have 5 second rounders this year.

Expansion has been more than compensated with more people playing organized basketball than ever before

Wouldn't do it, unless I've got a separate deal lined up with Thad for a mid round 1st, at which point I'd probably think about it.
