Football really is a uniquely odd sport in that after a game where the team did more of 'what worked" and less of "what didn't work" and as a result....won the f'n game, the Philly sports media obsessively complains that they didn't do more of "what wasn't working". Is there any other sport where we do this kind of analysis? I know the Sixers were shooting 50% from the 3 point line but they should have fed the ball down low more type of stuff.

NBA, MLB, NHL all have many more games than NFL. 1 NFL game is the equivalent of 5.125 NHL/NBA games and 10.125 MLB games. I think if the Phillies went on a 10 game streak where they couldn't hit at all it would be analyzed like this. If the Flyers scored like 1 goal in 5 games people would notice.

I think the run game/offensive line is a big issue as you can't expect a team to turn it over 4 times and for Wentz to be an escape artist and hit big plays all game. If the Eagles didn't get the defensive TD late and Washington drives down the field the big story would be how couldn't the Eagles run out the clock with the running game.

If the phillies won 10 games in a row without scoring much everyone would be praising the pitching with a small blip about the bats struggling

Yeah that is true I guess. But a 10 game winning streak in baseball is much more impressive than winning 1 game in football, so it isn't the greatest comparison. Just saying NFL games are analyzed to death because there are only 16 a year.

Eh, I could see Barkaan bitching on post game live if say the flyers won 5 straight but went 0 for on the power play and I'm pretty sure we've heard them bitch about needing MOAR BATTZ when the phills were in first place and winning divisions. Sports talk has to have something to complain about or it will implode
