“But I live like a sane one. I was a fascist when Mussolini was on top, and I an an anti-fascist now that he has been deposed. I was fanatically pro-German when the Germans were here to protect us against the Americans, and now that the Americans are here to protect us against the Germans I am fanatically pro-American. I can assure you, my outraged young friend” – the old man’s knowing, disdainful eyes shown even more effervescently as Nately’s stuttering dismay increased

You have to do something with it. he can be as unpopular as he wants for the next two years and still gut everything we hold dear. it doesn't matter. people with time to waste were wasting time on a recount instead of going after a Louisiana senate seat. Dems need to use it to regain state control and rebuild for 2018/2020. Acting like it's just going to happen without some action is dangerous. Perhaps you're not suggesting that, but you left it out of your responses to JFLNYC.
The first thing that needs to be done is downplaying the importance of the DNC chair...simply because both of the major two candidates are perfectly fine and either would help but they don't really do much to shape ideology like seems to be the current idea. They figure out how to spread money around; whoever does that better should be elected. It's also not really our say, unless you're in a local party (my wife is now so she gets a vote!).
Wasting precious energy on BS like going back and forth on the DNC chair instead of forcing their legislators to oppose in Congress is one of the first things many Dems/liberals are doing completely wrong.
It would be a good idea if we could figure out a way to identify strong progressive candidates in various state legislative elections and use social networking to channel small contributions their way. There really is no reason why progressives can't use a Tea Party strategy to win these elections. Remember, a big reason why we are where we are is because Republicans run state legislatures all over the county. They use that power to make voting more difficult, thus cementing those victories. The DNC could be setting something like this up--it would not take a ton of resources to do it.
And there are progressive issues like raising the minimum wage that are popular regardless of the prevailing ideology--even Arkansas voted to raise its minimum wage a couple of years ago.
pacino wrote:Now that the election is over and now that they used a previous legislative session to strip the incoming governor of a bunch of power, outgoing Gov McCrory called a new special legislative session in order to repeal HB2. Super strong incoming governor Roy Cooper, who definitely won't lose in 4 years, was assured it would happen:“Senate Leader Phil Berger and House Speaker Tim Moore assured me that as a result of Charlotte’s vote, a special session will be called for Tuesday to repeal HB 2 in full,” Cooper said in a statement. “I hope they will keep their word to me and with the help of Democrats in the legislature, HB2 will be repealed in full.
Cooper’s statement followed the Charlotte City Council’s 10-0 vote Monday morning to rescind the LGBT ordinance that prompted HB 2.
But in a joint statement of their own, Berger and Moore cast doubt on Cooper’s claim that they’d committed to a special session.
“Today Roy Cooper and Jennifer Roberts proved what we said was the case all along: their efforts to force men into women's bathrooms and shower facilities was a political stunt to drive out-of-state money into the governor's race,” the Republican leaders said.
“For months, we've said if Charlotte would repeal its bathroom ordinance that created the problem, we would take up the repeal of HB2. But Roy Cooper is not telling the truth about the legislature committing to call itself into session – we've always said that was Gov. McCrory's decision, and if he calls us back, we will be prepared to act. For Cooper to say otherwise is a dishonest and disingenuous attempt to take credit.”
It's gonna be another fun 4 years in North Carolina.

the failed, useless program has been stricken from regulations. it takes time to come up with new regulations that would try to discriminate against people immigrating to our country. this is a smart, logical move by the current administration. I'm sure the new one will attempt to create a new one, but that will now take that much longer.
but please, LMAO all you want.
