At the news conference, Chief Wilson said the episode was being investigated as a hate crime.

“We feel that the quote that was placed on the church was basically, it’s an intimidation of someone’s right to vote whatever way they choose to vote,” he said. “So that would be definitely considered a hate crime.”

But “as far it being a racial issue,” he added, “I can’t say that.”

this has to be one of the stupidest parts of the lefts attack on him during this election. his family changed their name in the 1600s, not sure what he should do about that.

These people fought—some of them were beaten, some of them were killed—because of their desire to ensure that everybody that wanted to had the right to register to vote and participate in the process. I’m not going to cheapen the work that they did. I’m not going to embarrass them by allowing somebody that’s too sorry to get up off of their rear end to go register to vote … because they think they deserve the right because they’ve turned 18.

If you’re too sorry or lazy to get up off of your rear and to go register to vote, or to register electronically, and then to go vote, then you don’t deserve that privilege. As long as I’m Secretary of State of Alabama, you’re going to have to show some initiative to become a registered voter in this state.

John Lewis is for automatic voter registration and is trying to get a bill to the floor to get it done.

Funny Ellis Island story: my grandfather had twin brothers (they were twins, they were not my grandfathers twins) with different names in Greek. At Ellis Island, both of their names were translated/changed to "Tom." So it was like "hi, I'm Tom and this is my twin brother Tom."

it's a stage name. Dean Martin wasn't actually Dean Martin. stage names were to make it easier for our Anglo-Saxon culture to be 'ok' with someone.

Eh, there are a few on here that do it too. It seems as petty as the people who use pejorative names 100% of the time to identify Hillary Clinton or their rival college.
