Does anyone else wonder if Trump's rambling speech and inability to control himself might be early signs of alzheimers? Seriously, he reminds me of some really old people I have known. He can't complete a thought without going off on some tangent and he's losing control of his aggressiveness. He's 70 years old.

Also, I'm concerned about his small hands. Can he even push the button if it comes down to it?

The small hands are our saving grace. He won't be able to reach the button.

He's not prepared to talk about most topics in any kind of substance. He reminds me of when someone would get cold called in class when they hadn't done the reading, and rather than just admitting it they would try to pass off like they knew what they were talking about.
Two days later I get a text back that says I'm a basketball player and a businessman, not a Thundercat.

speaking of which Howard Dean is even trying to defend his coke comment about Trump, incredibly disappointing to see him stoop to the same level

I think he's very smart. He just has severe attention issues and, putting aside whether it's dementia, at the age of 70 it's just naturally going to be harder to recall things as quickly as he did 20 years ago which, in turn, must be very frustrating for someone who has spent his whole life thinking on his feet.

Fulop not running for gov, endorsing Murphy. Our last Goldman Sachs Dem gov did so well. Seems like a blow to Sweeney if this lets Murphy consolidate all the northern county party orgs, though I guess TNC can speak more intelligently about these things than I can.

"Very popular" might be a significant understatement. Other than his initial election in 1978, the only challenger who came within 40 points of him was Mark Warner in 1996... who obviously enjoyed the unique benefit of having the same last name as his opponent, creating a ton of confusion for underinformed voters during a Presidential election (Bob Dole took Virginia over Clinton and Perot 47-45-6). Even then, John Warner still outperformed Dole and won by 5 points.

There is not a single person in Virginia who will say a bad thing about John Warner, and he is extremely well-respected among senior citizens. This is a huge endorsement for Clinton.

Trump seems to search for any sort of validation, and grabs onto it for dear life. He has surrounded himself with sycophants who are desperate to keep him happy at the expense of telling him news he should hear. He is probably dumb enough not to really know the difference between the CNN poll and the Drudge poll. He is so #$!&@ lazy and incurious that he will take any excuse possible to have the same level of limited to no preparation for the next debate - after all, it worked this time! He is so insulated in his only going on FOX shows and even then only going on the 2-3 that are still consistently nice to him that an outside bursting of this bubble seems unlikely. And so he will go into the next debate as outgunned as he was yesterday.

I totally agree with all of this. I was worried that his performance would be seen as so bad that he'd actually work for the next one--much like his campaign was such a trainwreck after the RNC that he actually listened to his professional advisers for a while.

I think you're right that we'll see basically the same Trump next time around.

He's always talked like this... he just usually avoided speaking on issues that weren't in his wheelhouse.
