Sit-in spin: Getting dizzy with politics

posting this here instead of the gun thread as it relates to politics moreso than gun control

Trump's reaction:

Last night’s horrific execution-style shootings of 12 Dallas law enforcement officers – five of whom were killed and seven wounded - is an attack on our country. It is a coordinated, premeditated assault on the men and women who keep us safe.

We must restore law and order. We must restore the confidence of our people to be safe and secure in their homes and on the street.

The senseless, tragic deaths of two motorists in Louisiana and Minnesota reminds us how much more needs to be done.

This morning I offer my thoughts and prayers for all of the victims’ families, and we pray for our brave police officers and first responders who risk their lives to protect us every single day.

Our nation has become too divided. Too many Americans feel like they’ve lost hope. Crime is harming too many citizens. Racial tensions have gotten worse, not better. This isn’t the American Dream we all want for our children.

This is a time, perhaps more than ever, for strong leadership, love and compassion. We will pull through these tragedies.

The great thing about the Gretchen Carlson lawsuit is it's pushed to the background less important matters like 7 cops being shot, Blacks being routinely shot, HRC's non-indictment, Trump's anti-Semitism, etc.

Well, I think that many of the required Fox News talking points cause otherwise intelligent people (i.e., not Steve Doocey) to look dumb. And I think that the "pretend to be dumber than you are to come across as less threatening" approach is still a thing for women in many professions and at certain companies. Fox News--where they desperately want to be stuck in the 80s--is a perfect example of that, at least outside of Megyn Kelly.

Feel like doing all those quick hits on ridiculous Fox News topics for long enough would make anyone dumber.

But yeah they're probably just giving the people what they want.
Two days later I get a text back that says I'm a basketball player and a businessman, not a Thundercat.

This is a retaliatory suit for the network’s decision not to renew her contract, which was due to the fact that her disappointingly low ratings were dragging down the afternoon lineup. When Fox News did not commence any negotiations to renew her contract, Ms. Carlson became aware that her career with the network was likely over and conveniently began to pursue a lawsuit. Ironically, FOX News provided her with more on-air opportunities over her 11 year tenure than any other employer in the industry, for which she thanked me in her recent book. This defamatory lawsuit is not only offensive, it is wholly without merit and will be defended vigorously.

read that in Trump's voice and it's hardly different.

super cut of people on the air commenting on her appearance

I mean, she was Miss America in 1989, so we can't be surprised about superficial statements. Then again, she graduated with honors from Stanford, so even though she said (many) stupid things on air, we know she's not a complete airhead.

I cannot remember where I read it (HuffPo?) but someone called Fox News 'softcore porn for 70 year old men'. That seems about right with how they frame the women on air and the clips they put in the background of stories.

But yeah,I was surprised a few years back to learn Carlson was quite accomplished. i dont know why she played dumb on air, but it certainly seems to be a trend at FOX to dumb down women on air.

We need to make America great again by going back to the time when "those people" knew their place.

Gotta say the leadership of Dallas just now disabusing me of some of my prejudices, even misting me up some.

America is a fucking great place.

Minor points off for no women's voices, but otherwise stirring.
