That's kind of silly to decline a speaking offer at the Republican national convention. What, these people don't think they can draft a compelling message about their vision of conservatism? You dont have to mention Trump at all.

he can be re-tried but it would need to be under a different statute than bribery or they'd need to show more evidence of explicit corruption; the implication of bribery basically isn't enough. circumstantial evidence isn't enough.
