Yeah and many of those points talk about how the system is simpler. Having sales tax built into the price is simpler than making people figure it out. I've been poor enough in the past to seriously have to consider sales tax after the fact as to whether or not I could afford simple things like food. It's easier when the price is built in.

yeah but that isnt a tax system thing. ive been to a bunch of places in the US that do it that way. it is unique to Sweden.

The article was great imo. Can you imagine how much less stressful life would be for Americans if we had a system like that? And, by the way, such a system would cost me a **lot** more in taxes. And even though I wouldn't even see many of the benefits (e.g., education costs and housing stipends, children stipends) because we're empty nesters, I would be thrilled to pay my share to live in an America which provided that sort of opportunity for all its citizens.

Of course it happened in Sweden to some extent because of more "homogeneous" society. It will never happen here because so many people can't abide the thought of anyone's tax dollars going to help "those people."

Sanders acquitted himself really well on Morning Joe.

There has to be a way to throttle the way that big money controls politics without simply more Robin Hood stuff

there are businesses in the united states that incorporate the sales tax into the listed price the the customer initially sees.

The only thing that makes it "confusing" is that he said "it is unique to Sweden" instead of "it is not unique to Sweden." Although the error changes the meaning, it is easy to see what he meant using context clues.

Yeah, I work at one of those places. It's much easier for all parties. We only have to deal with bills and quarters instead of counting out things to the nearest cent. Lines move quicker. Less change. Everyone should be doing this.

Saying it's not a tax system thing is just false. It is a tax systems thing (whatever this means) in Sweden.

Also your statement that it's unique to Sweden is weird considering you're pointing out that there are places like that here.

I'd wager most teabaggers would be incredulous if you informed them that the original Tea Partiers' rallying cry was "no taxation without representation!", rather than the simpler, stupider "no taxation!'
Yes, but in a double utley you can put your utley on top they other guy's utley, and you're the winner. (Swish)

it's not something that's done in the Democratic party. Clinton didn't do it, and she was closer to Obama than Sanders is to Clinton.

but, i guess we could throw away a week of free advertising for the message of the party so we could have the 2nd place person have sour grapes and damage the frontrunner.
