Primary Cholers, or the Caucusin' Chat Circle (Politics)

From a liberal vox.com article about how well Rubio can sway voters:

There's a similar phenomenon at work with Rubio — at Slate, Reihan Salam recently referred to it as Rubio's "chameleonlike nature." Indeed, Kevin Moulton, an undecided voter from Exeter at a Bernie Sanders event Saturday, told me he was considering voting for either Rubio or Sanders. "Rubio has inspiration. He has potential," Moulton said. Though he's a registered Democrat, he said he considers himself an independent these days, and said he was "open-minded about conservative economic policies."

I think people like that, and there are a lot of them, are more interested in how a candidate makes them feel than their actual policies.

He said he was inspirational, so yeh, I guess warm and fuzzy.

That's better than what Trump makes people feel, angry and victimized.

Wow, what a really idiotic stance. And "potential"?!?!? Gimme me a fucking break. We are talking about electing the leader of the free world; I think we should probably at least TRY to be a little picky.

I'm not sure we need an article explaining scientifically why it is hard to look at Ted Cruz' face, but I'm still grateful for the term Backpfeifengesicht meaning "a face in need of a good punch."

Rubio repeated the Obama knows what he's doing line 3 more times on This Week on ABC, but he also did this:
Following a Saturday night’s Republican Presidential Debate on ABC News, host George Stephanopoulos noted during a Sunday interview that Rubio had been hammered for his belief that abortion was wrong even in cases of rape or incest.

“Abortion to me is not a political issue,” Rubio insisted. “It’s a human rights issue. And so, if [Jeb Bush] wants to make it a political issue, that’s his right. For me, it’s not.”

“I do require an exception for life of the mother because I’m pro-life,” he continued. “Number two, as I’ve said, if they pass a law in Congress that has exceptions, I’ll sign it. Because I want to save lives.”

“What do you say to that mom when you look her in the eye?” the ABC host wondered.

“It’s a terrible situation,” Rubio replied. “I mean, a crisis pregnancy, especially as a result of something as horrifying as that, I’m not telling you it’s easy. I’m not here saying it’s an easy choice. It’s a horrifying thing that you’ve just described.”

“I get it,” he added. “I really do. And that’s why this issue is so difficult. But I believe a human being, an unborn child has a right to live, irrespective of the circumstances of which they were conceived. And I know that the majority of Americans don’t agree with me on that.”

“And that’s why any law that passed will almost certainly have exceptions. And I’ll sign it.”

sucky situation, bro

I'm predicting Fiorina and maybe one more drop out after tonight. Carson and Christie should based on how they're polling in NH and SC, but they both seem too stubborn to drop out this early.

Looking forward to having Christie back in NJ full-time. Not. Seriously though, he will definitely be back in state next week as he is scheduled to give his budget address on the 16th, I believe. Another opportunity for Heavy C to bash teachers and promote charter schools.

Assad and Russian air power is attacking Aleppo, which is held by rebel groups

Merkel and Davutoglu met agree on curbing emigration from Aleppo, Syria. They want to push for all sides to halt attacks on civilians.
"We have been, in the past few days, not just appalled but horrified by what has been caused in the way of human suffering for tens of thousands of people by bombing - primarily from the Russian side," she said.

"Under such circumstances, it's hard for peace talks to take place, and so this situation must be brought to an end quickly."

Davutoglu, for his part, said the city of Aleppo was "de facto under siege. We are on the verge of a new human tragedy."

"Russians are carpet-bombing - they want to clean the entire region so as to make sure the Damascus [Syrian] army will take over and push on to the Turkish border," Cengiz Aktar, a political scientist with the Istanbul Policy Centre, told Al Jazeera.

it's pretty obvious Russia needs to stop helping Syria advance on Aleppo. Turkey is no saint in this, nor are all the EU actors that are trying to pull Merkel away from helping refugees, but Russia and Assad are obviously the perpetrators here.
