caucuses are weird as shit.

Yeah he needs at least 15% at a given location for them to count.

the move doesnt make much sense then bc they seem like ultimately they are still going to be up for grabs.

They're probably trying to push them to O'Malley to get him up to 15% in certain venues because their polling shows those voters are more likely to end up with Sanders if O'Malley doesn't qualify there. It's actually a smart move if it works.

Yeah, the Clinton camp believes O'Malley supporters would caucus with the Sanders supporters. And they're probably right.

However, it seems ill-advised because the race is close in Iowa right now. O'Malley is polling in single digits. How many Clinton voters will need to caucus with the O'Malley folks to get to 15%?

I don't think they're Clinton voters, they're undecideds. Clinton's people are probably saying something like, "Look, if you're not comfortable with Clinton, you should look at O'Malley. He believes x, y, z, and isn't as extreme as Sanders."

or that's how I imagine it.

The U.S. commander in charge of the military coalition fighting the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria said today carpet bombing the terrorist network would be "inconsistent with our values" - a remark almost certainly aimed at Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz, who has vowed to "carpet bomb them into oblivion."

Army Lt. Gen. Sean MacFarland told reporters the United States was "bound by the laws of armed conflict," after being asked to explain why carpet bombing would not be an effective strategy against the Islamic State.

"We're the United States of America. We have a set of guiding principles," he said. "Indiscriminate bombing, where we don't care if we're killing innocents or combatants, is just inconsistent with our values."

He added: "Right now we have the moral high ground, and I think that's where we need to stay."

While most primaries are simple ballot affairs, the flyover geniuses that vote in Iowa require a special format. These energy drink-addled corn people are used to UFC-style cage fights where their raucous yells and parking lot melees are more acceptable than the civilized democratic process.

That’s why in the Iowa caucuses, candidates identify a relatively civilized Iowan (someone with only 4 DUIs) to be a precinct captain. This person is in charge of organizing their lesser counterparts. They corral their neighbors from leaving racist comments on Nick Cannon’s “Wild N Out” on Hulu and bring them to a high school wrestling room or wherever Iowans caucus. There, people organize into delegate groups for their candidates. If they have less than 15 percent of the plurality as the pitiful moron Rand Paul surely will, their candidate is eliminated. The delegates for this candidate must then either join another candidate’s delegates or be removed from the caucus due to the likelihood of causing a mass shooting, as Rand Paul’s supporters surely will be. Voters can persuade these delegates to join their candidate’s group, so look for Bernie supporters to go into any caucus hall with any women inside and scream at the top of their lungs as they are accustomed to doing.

Here's a list of things Cruz knows about the military:

1.
Teams lie, sometimes for good reasons, sometimes for bad. They do it to get an advantage while they look at the trade market or just because they can

At the caucus: twenty minutes before shit pops off!

Currently going back and forth with the old man: he's leaning towards voting for Rubio because he believes he's more "electable." I feel differently, obviously: can't stomach the thought of another K Street Republican after Bush II.

Never done one of these before: should be interesting

1. Fox reporting really really high caucus turnout.
2. "ground game" is now the most overused expression in politics.

This Steve Schmidt character on MSNBC is funny. Bernie has not shot in a general. Maybe wins vermont and the west coast. Nothing more according to him.

Gonna be funny if the Republican most hated by Republicans wins the Republican caucus.
