Something scummy? You took a risk that now has you regretting your actions. Considered against all the truly scummy things people do to other people that doesn't even register. True, there's another party involved, but she's a big girl too (though may likely have been working through self-worth issues on her own). If you feel bad about it, then definitely use that, but I don't think anyone else is going to judge you poorly.

So sorry to hear about your Dad. I know it's quite a shock when you first get the news. My sincere wishes that things will turn out better than they look at first.
