If I'm not mistaken... The occupants and the uber driver are covered by uber when the occupant is in the car. However, the driver is not covered by uber when he or she is not even though they may be on the way to pick up a passenger.

nope. uber provides assumes no liabilities whatsoever.

was once in a cab with Eem and the passenger seat well was filled with literal garbage, the whole cab smelled like weed, he got lost, and drove like an asshole.

he got a flat at like 2nd and spring garden and we hopped out without paying a dime and went to another cab. probably the most ive ever believed in god.

More people still take taxis, so I guess not.

Do taxi operators get their money back and get to stop having to have all theinimal regulations to ensure safety?

That's where I'm at. The system is not good, so let's fix it and make an even playing field

I don't know. I had a hard time finding numbers for NYC, just that the city had more uber drivers than taxi drivers. Obviously, taxi drivers have more passengers per day though. I'd be interested to see the numbers for 2013, 2014, and 2015 so far.

yeah, and that's a different conversation i think. i mean, i think the deal is pretty obvious when you look at it (my friend is actually signed up now but hasn't done his first ride). I certainly wouldn't want to deal with it all
