The movie studios have been looking for more money for streaming rights to movies and Netflix/Amazon aren't willing to pay the premium to get their content. I forget which studio or distributed it was, but I believe it's the one pac is referencing ended their contract with Netflix but signed a new one with Hulu. Supposedly Hulu is trying to get more into movies. Personally, I use HBO go, which isn't the be all end all, but between that, encore and starz, I have a pretty good selection to watch at any given time.

I think Netflix is still quite good for lots of genre flicks or just selection in general if you're into movies more than 5 years old. the problem is their menus are so screwed up and only show television and a small group of stuff they're trying to push. to find the good stuff, you pretty much have to go through the wormhole of similar movie suggestions (or use external lists)

i agree their menus are garbage. they keep trying to push stuff i don't care about. they want you to mainline a 100 episode TV show or some dumb movie they made.

i still like it for some of their original programming and catching up on 13 episode chunks of shows

Have fun! The first time I had jury duty I made it to jury selection but wasn't selected. The case was a guy was in a car accident, got rear ended, and since the traumatic experience of being in a car accident he could no longer get an erection. Which lead to his wife divorcing him, getting depressed and losing his job. Wish I had been selected for that jury, would have loved to know how that played out.

The cynic in me believes that they do that on purpose so that you won't miss the fact that they're planning on their few remaining major movie studios as partners b/c their price model can't support it anymore.

I still love Netflix for TV shows and their original stuff... it's just startling how badly their film selection has fallen. My Watch List used to be much longer than it is now, and it's not because I plowed through a ton of movies.
