Thanks everyone for the kind words and thoughts...

It is a tragedy, but one that did not happen around 10pm Monday night, but one that began years prior. I wish some good could somehow come out of it, but much like that article than ran for about 12 hours, everything will soon be forgotten. I won't forget what happened and it's tough not to think what you could've done differently, but if it didn't happen that night, it surely would've happened soon some other day. Luckily, I am familiar with the sad stories from our Native American communities, where even within the wealthiest tribes with money coming from gaming, mining, and land leases problems are worse here than the worst neighborhoods across the largest cities here in America.

My thoughts and prayers go out to her and hopefully she found peace. She did go quickly and did not appear to be in physical pain for long.

Got the Windows 10 upgrade.

Actually it's a lot better than Windows 8. The god-awful Metro Start screen or whatever they called it is gone (well, sort of, the god-awful Metro is still there but it's in a Start menu now, so it doesn't take up the whole screen anymore and there's a sort-of familiar list of applications again). The native apps no longer are full-screen only. Everything seems pretty snappy in general.

The biggest issue that I have is that in terms of user interface on a desktop PC I still cannot find any meaningful improvement over Windows 7.

I've been using Microsoft Edge, the new replacement for Internet Explorer, and so far I like it. It seems to be marginally faster at loading pages than Chrome.

yeah, the "Windows Secrets" review came out today, and the advice was DO IT if you're currently on 8, don't bother if you're on 7
