Lots of people assume "Latino" is a thing. But really, Cubans, Puerto Ricans, Mexicans, and Dominicans should not be treated as a monolithic group. On immigration especially their statuses are different. Rubio can't really say much to Mexicans about understanding their situation.

He can speak Spanish, and can talk about being first generation American/having working class parents sacrificing to make sure their children have more opportunities than they did. Hispanic voters who actually vote who the GOP needs to appeal to aren't solely or even mostly driven by immigration issues.

Hispanic : countries that had a connection to ancient Hispania (Iberian Peninsula)... Mexico, Spain, Argentina...

i know of no one latino in my life who thinks anything positive about Rubio or views him as like them. perhaps some are keeping their opinions to themselves, however.

of course, none of them are republicans. there are hardly any latino republicans here.

Republicans in general who I've spoken with around here like Trump if they are racist or stupid, Cruz is they hate liberals or are stupid, Walker if they hate unions and are religious or also hate liberals and Rubio if they want someone young. Yet to meet a Bush voter, though. The sane ones like Rubio around these parts, from my completely anecdotal evidence.

the guy I know who listens to Alex Jones also likes Rand Paul.


on the other side of the coin (Democrats I know), 30something white males I've met like Bernie Sanders and everyone else backs Hilary Clinton. No one else gets a mention.
