You can really only make money when selling generic drugs to people without insurance. Brand names are pretty much the same price wholesale as retail. And once you involve the insurance companies you're waiting on reimbursements that may or may not come in at the amount you billed, plus you're paying transaction fees to the middle man who receives and submits the claims.

I was a Pharmacy Tech at Rite Aid my first couple years of college: loved that job.

That said, the crappiest part of the job was figuring out what was/wasn't covered by insurance companies. And then having to go through multiple channels to get Prior Authorizations, etc.

So I guess when they were trying to drive people to switch over they were probably hoping a decent chunk of them were getting generic maintenance drugs without insurance. Didn't work out so grab some cash from CVS and let them take over. CVS has a huge advantage because they're also one of the big insurance players (via Caremark), so they can make money on that end too.

Stay tuned for the next episode of Black She Goes.

The former NAACP leader accused of being a white woman pretending to be black once sued a historically black university for racial discrimination, claiming Howard University favored black students over her, according to court documents obtained by the Los Angeles Times.

Rachel Dolezal, who resigned her presidency of the NAACP chapter in Spokane, Wash., on Monday, was known as Rachel Moore when she sued Howard University in 2002 in Washington, D.C., where she was a graduate student in art.

Dolezal claimed university officials removed some of her art from a student exhibit in 2001 "for a discriminatory purpose to favor African American students" over her, according to an appeals court's summary of her arguments.

Nice. I was a clerk in high school, then became a tech at 18, then worked on the IT side from age 23 to 27. Spent like 75% of that time dealing with insurance issues!

The funny thing is dealing with the companies themselves wasn't that bad: whatever guy/gal I got on the phone was usually polite and matter of fact.

The problem was explaining to someone that their drug isn't covered. I'm not a naturally empathetic person, but I had to fake it quite a bit.

That purchased my first thing was supposed to read that I purchased my first craigslist item ever. The dude who I bought my turntable from looked like candy van. I was afraid to approach him, but he just handed me the turntable and took my money. He al purchased my first thing was supposed to read that I purchased my first craigslist item ever. So I drove to this Burger King I would have no other reason to ever go to again.
