So, when push came to shove, the Israeli people just couldn't give up their bibi security blanket. "Be afraid," said Bibi, and so they were.

either that or they have invested in Diebold voting machines.

Objectively speaking, I think you are good at posting in this thread because you are knowledgeable. However, you aren't nearly as good as you used to be because you are scrambling to spin crazier and crazier behavior. It's obvious and it hurts your credibility, which is something you used to always have because you were more reasonable. I know it's "in for a penny, in for a pound" with things sometimes, but I think the cognitive dissonance and GOP loyalty is making you look much more hacky than you used to look. Just my opinion.

I'm good at posting in the science and nature thread. Most people are good at talking about things they love and spend their free time learning about.

Oh boy, seems like this election made Netanyahu a full blown radical at this point. A two state solution is the only reasonable policy goal for the US and now we have an "ally" who is openly against it instead of only subverting it.

so weird that a two state solution is now a partisan issue here, too

So the House Judiciary Committee decided it needed to become buzzfeed. I copied the whole press release for posterity's sake, because I HOPE that someone wakes up tomorrow and realizes that this is immature.

1. Right now, one single person – the President of the United States – can turn off the enforcement of our immigration laws unilaterally. For real.

Image

2. And that’s just what President Obama has done. Since he’s the boss of federal immigration enforcement officers, he’s told them to stop enforcing our immigration laws.

Image

3. The problem is that when our immigration laws aren’t enforced, it encourages more illegal immigration and causes the system to implode. Not cool.

Image

4. As we move forward to make our immigration system work better, we need innovative solutions that guarantee our immigration laws will be enforced in the future.

Image

5. And Republicans in the House of Representatives are doing just that. They are taking a step-by-step approach to fix our immigration system, starting with enforcement first.

Image

6. House Republicans have introduced a bill that prevents the President from unilaterally shutting down the enforcement of our immigration laws. It does so by allowing state and local governments to enforce federal immigration law.

Image

7. Right now, there are only 5,000 federal immigration enforcement officers across the United States. But there are more than 900,000 state and local law enforcement officers. We need both federal and local law enforcement officers to work together.
Image

8. We trust state and local law enforcement officers to enforce every other category of law. So if we trust them to do all that, we should give them a role in enforcing our immigration laws. This just makes sense.

Image

9. By allowing hundreds of thousands of local law enforcement officers to enforce our immigration laws, we keep immigration enforcement up and operating, even when a president tries to unlawfully refuse to enforce our laws.

Image

10. That way, we preserve the rule of law and protect the integrity of our generous immigration system no matter who is in the White House.

Learn more about this bill and other important bills that would strengthening the interior enforcement of our nation's immigration laws.

As for the substance, allowing local law enforcement to enforce immigration law can only lead to good things!!!! *insert gif*

I'm not sure why anyone would be in favor of the executive branch selectively enforcing the law.

Since enforcement resources are limited, enforcement will always be selective.

I linked a Salon article below which mocks Fox and Friends for having two parents as guest who condemned an elementary-level Black History Month event that included t-shirts and a program with stuff like "Black Lives Matter", "Hands Up, Don't Shoot" and students introducing themselves as Michael Brown on stage. I am certainly not a Fox News fan but if this kind of thing happened at my kids' school, I would hit the fucking roof (putting aside, of course, that, as a board member, I would never approve it).

New Hampshire 4th graders proposed a bill to make some hawk the state bird or something and NH Republicans compared the bird's method of killing it's prey to planned parenthood and then basically said they were wasting their time.

no more vehicle inspections in Mississippi

because cars are better than they used to be. i guess so, but people are still driving shitty cars around, and good cars can become shitty cars without yearly inspections. i guess i dont get why they would repeal this?

i didnt realize so many states didnt have any inspections at all. so people can just keep driving around shitty cars without repairing them?s lt seems like, other than emissions, the Northeast is pretty much an outlier. I didnt realize that.
