Random Soft Pretzel Threats For Everyone

Buying and reselling your book may be more cost effective than renting. If you think about it--if the book cost your $100 used, you can probably sell it to someone else next semester for about the same, and the cost is effectively zero (minus some time, and probably shipping).

Guy in New Mexico claims he should have won $500K on this scratch-off ticket since he had two "1" symbols, but the lottery says it's a misprint and he didn't win anything (and the back of the ticket says they aren't responsible for misprints)

Image

Besides the characters to the right of the 1s (which were supposed to be an 8 and a 2), if you look at the letters underneath, it doesn't say "ONE", so other than it resembling a couple of 1s, how does he have a fight here? They offered him $100 in scratch-offs but he declined, saying he wants his $500K. Good luck with that

tie goes to the one-er?
Yes, but in a double utley you can put your utley on top they other guy's utley, and you're the winner. (Swish)

I'd be psyched to get $100 for a misprint that still clearly shows I lost.

I don't think I've read an actual Phillies thread on this board since the season ended.

They offered $100 worth of scratch offs, not cash. So, really, probably more like 20 bucks. But hey, you never know...

Hell, I would try to fight it. 100 bucks ain't doing you anything. Never settle with the first offer when it is that low. Reject and they will probably come back with a counter offer a little later.

They don't need to give him a counter offer, they don't owe him anything. And he'd probably get more than $20 with $100 worth of tickets. He's being a greedy POS.

I posit that the average scratch-off player is not the best at weighing statistical likelihoods of success for a given activity.

This. The most they owe him is the price of the ticket. Maybe. He should take that $100 and run.

I can sympathize with the guy being a little irrational after thinking he won 500,000 bucks for a while

It might be a $20 scratch off. That is a thing.

yeah, i ended up with one a couple weeks ago when the automatic lottery machine was offline and couldn't print mega & powerball and it wouldn't give me my 20 back either. was in a hurry and didn't have time to wait for a clerk so i just pushed the button for the scratch off. i lost.
