That's strange, you were certainly making it sound like China hasn't been improving given the graph you kept posting. If you can continue to improve the % of renewable energy use, eventually the overall numbers will come down. This is basic math. China's fossil fuel use is going up because more and more of their people are doing well economically. It's not that they've gotten worse about fossil fuel use. They've actually gotten better and will continue to get better. The problem is the number of people they have entering the middle class economy. When that levels off, their overall fossil fuel use will start to go down as they continue to increase their alternative energy use. We are way behind in the development of the types of programs that will allow that to happen in the US on a large scale.

I think it's useful to look at these two giants because they are the two biggest users of fossil fuels and because they have a very different approaches to the problem. The US is allowing the markets to correct the problem with little governmental intervention and the Chinese are mandating the changes through the authoritarian government. I think it's useful to consider the advantages and disadvantages of each. And it also may be useful to see which programs work the best in China because I think eventually the government will need to be more involved in the US.

But yeh, these two countries are not models for the movement from fossil fuels to alternative energies. Germany is the model, I think. Despite a huge manufacturing economy, they are managing to pull it off. They still have problems, but they are making huge strides. Heck, they even export much of the alternative energy production to other countries.

Possibly, but that does nothing to dispute what I said. I would trade energy programs with them in a heartbeat, but I wouldn't want the billion people that came with it. They have a serious numbers problem.

what are you talking about? They're being EXTREMELY fiscally responsible. To the derivative traders.

Personally, I am psyched about the clause that gets rid of campaign contribution limits. That'll really help the country.

It's a step in the right direction, anyhow. More money should flow through the parties as opposed to outside groups.
