i mean you work from home a lot and talk about playing games and drinking and dabs so it sounds cool

i work from home 3 or 4 nights a week and i smoke/drink on shift after i get my work done some nights. i love the job and the rules around it - basically, get your shit done and do it well and nothing else matters. luckily, with the weather you can have this kind of policy because if you put out a bad forecast, it's going to affect the people coming on after you and they will not hesitate to tell you if you fucked up(nor will i of them). it's almost self-policing.

the hours suck, but that's because i'm still the newest person here in our seattle office.

My grandfather is dying and it sucks. He is my last remaining grandparent and he's 85 years old. He's in perfect health except for an easily operable, benign, brain tumor. While in the hospital diagnosing the brain tumor, he developed 3 different blood infections (one of which is mrsa) and gangrene. While the infections are active, they can't perform the operation to remove the tumor.

The same hospital killed my grandmother six years ago. She slipped in a parking lot and broke her hip, was admitted to the hospital and an orderly broke both of her shoulders trying to move her. Then shortly thereafter she contracted pneumonia and died.

My uncle, my dying grandfather's youngest son, died of a massive stroke in November at age 49, leaving behind 5 kids ages 8-21. And now my aunt is suicidal and berating all of her siblings to the point that they don't care if she offs herself. Jfc. This is just goddamn brutal. Really trying to put on the happy show right now for the rest of the family.

In the last week a friend of mine has had his travel itinerary for his vacation get burned by a vindictive former roommate because it accidentally got sent to his old address, didn't get a promotion he was up for, and just today got his motorcycle stolen. feel so bad, but i don't know what to say to the dude except "that's fucking horrible".

i don't think my honest sentiments of "if all that happened to me in a week i'd probably be borderline suicidal" would help at all.

I'm sorry bill.. I'm sure you know the drill, but stay by his side as much as you can. life sucks sometimes
