yea he was a tank. there's no denying that his technique and skill at his peak were incredible, but unfortunately he never really fought anybody worthwhile during that time. Such a shame that we didnt get to see some all star fights

I remember my friends and I ordered the Michael Spinks/Tyson fight. Right before the fight, spinks was interviewed and ask about the fight and he went like "uhhhh, i'm going to try to do my best". My friends and I just looked at each other and said fkkkkkkkkkkkkk. fight was over in 90 seconds.

I was gonna say the same thing. I'll never forget how scared he looked on the walk to the ring.

I actually saw the Tyson-Buster Douglass fight, which was on regular HBO, not pay per view. It was pretty incredible.

The heavyweight division kinda sucked after Larry Holmes got old. Tyson was really good but yeah, he plowed through a lot of crappy fighters as well.

After he lost to Buster, he won a bunch more fights until he met Hollyfield. Bit Hollyfield's ear off in their second fight.

He fought a really long time. I forgot about that. He lost three of his last four fights.

I remember watching Tyson/Spinks live (I watched most of the heavyweight unification fights on HBO). Just watched it again on teh yootoobz. The knockout punch didn't look like much real time, but the replays at different angles... it's surprising Spinks' skull wasn't caved in. That was one nasty left hook that just turned off his lights and left him twitching.

If only Tyson didn't leave camp D'Amato (Atlas, etc) for Don King's people (with a fight staff that was just a bunch of "hanger ons")...

when I read about the MSG/Penn Station lease ordeal my only thought is "HOW THE FUCK CAN YOU MOVE A 20,000 SEAT STADIUM" in a Lewis Black voice.

Well, it's been three other places before, two of which were actually on Madison Square.

Yup. Isn't that where Frazier just fell into a heap in the corner? I'll have to yootoob for it later.

The fight against champion Trevor Berbick was a title bout, so that one actually made it to the 2nd round (TBF, Berbick was basically just hanging on for most of it)...

The pizzeria/Indian joint in Lansdale is now a pizzeria/"Spanish food" joint. They actually have a huge menu of pizzas, standard Italian takeout fare, burgers, and then we get to the "Spanish" food. It's pretty much all standard Mexican: tacos, burritos, etc. And the menu is loaded with typos, like "Maxican" and "Echhiladas".

I'll definitely have to try this place out though b/c having decent Mexican close to home would be clutch.

That's my favorite phillies game ever. I bought the box set of the ws and that game was included and I'll watch that one from time to time. When Stairs hit that out I knew we were winning the ws. God that was fun.

every offseason i think about doing random game threads from the past that we weren't around for. 93 playoffs, tommy greene no hitter, shit like that. always got gun shy and figured nobody would participate and it'd be dumb.

Would do. I did an inning of the 93 NLCS at the 96 All Star fan fest.
