I went downstairs to check on it and two of the pipes going in to (or out of?) the central unit were frozen. Found a filter thingy and it was caked with dust and junk. So I got a replacement at Home Depot and that seemed to help for a while, but then just yesterday it stopped pushing out cool air again and sure enough the pipes were frozen when I went downstairs to check again. Do I have to pay someone to come out and check on this now? Or is there something else easy I can replace myself? Maybe I should've posted this in the home repair blues thread.

Unless you're extremely handy, there's not a lot for the do it yourselfer with an AC unit. Sounds like the best to hope for is you need coolant, due to a slow leak. Assuming they can't find the leak, they'll refill it with coolant and you can hope for the best. Our system needs a refill every other year or so. But if it doesn't hold coolant, you're looking at some fairly expensive repairs.

I'm not, so I'll see about getting someone out to refill it with coolant. I'm living in my parent's rental property for now, so lucky for me if it's anything too expensive it'll be them footing the bill! I turned it off last night to let it thaw out and then turned it back on this morning, so we'll see how it is when I get home from work later. Thanks!

So, my aunt and her husband asked me to take care of their dogs for a couple days. For the remaining days they'll be out of town, a friend of her's from work will be staying at the house and will take care of the dogs. This girl had some minor surgery, so my aunt gave her my number in case she didn't feel up to getting to the house or whatever. So she calls and leaves me a message saying she can't drive right now, so would I mind taking care of them the next morning. I texted back and said that's fine. She texts back and says, "you have a very familiar voice. Have we met before?" Oh boy, here we go.

We haven't met, and I immediately realize that my aunt has probably shown her a picture of me and told her something about me and is trying to play matchmaker. (Yes I am THAT attractive, fellas). Sure enough, she keeps sending me flirty texts (and a picture. And no, I'm not going to post it) and I'm trying to act uninterested, but she keeps flirting with me. So anyway, I guess we're going to "hang out" tonight.

So is she cute? Are you single? I mean, there are worse things that could happen. If you want to get back at your aunt, see if you can get a blowie or her sofa from the girl or something.
