Arugments and Sensitivity Training Regarding POLITICS

At least in part, I think they're attacking Obama to hurt his legacy. They want people to remember scandals and controversy and tepid economic performance because they don't want Obama's popularity to create what Reagan did for Republicans, solidifying a core group of independents that identify with Democrats because they like Obama. So I think hurting his image would help their electoral chances a bit.

I just think that's too clever by half. Occam's razor suggests they're attacking Obama because they don't like him. I think in general, most politicians are true believers--they really think the stuff they're saying is true and reasonable. They're frustrated, because they don't understand why everyone doesn't see it that way, which causes them to go all unhinged. Furthermore, I would suggest the more outrageous a claim is (legitimate rape would be an example) the more likely the person who made the claim really believes it. And that's the scary thing.

When Akin made the "legitimate rape" claim during the campaign, he didn't misspeak, nor was he saying it to appeal to his base. He said it because he really believes it. Same with Romney's 47% claim, and so forth.

oh ok, i didn't realize you were citing a specific example. i thought you were speaking of people in general who had legitimate rape complaints.

Do people high in the GOP really believe Obama is a secret Muslim from Kenya? I agree that much of it might be people saying things they truly believe, but I really have a hard time thinking they actually believe some of the stuff. I'm sure some of the teaparty guys believe Obama is a socialist, but the people who have been in DC for any length of time have to know that much of his agenda is really just a slightly reworked Republican agenda from the 80's. He's no socialist, he's Republican lite.

About Bachmann, I did not realize that she preannounced her presidential campaign announcement. "Tomorrow I will announce..." LOL

You would think this is satire, but it isn't.

President Obama nominates another Republican, James Comey, to head the FBI. This was the guy that made Bush change policy regarding NSA wiretapping

ANTHONY SMITH IS DEAD!!! he's the guy that had the Robb Ford tape. Five people have resigned from his administration, Ford just says 'anything else?' whenever a drug questions comes up, he insists there isnt anything wrong.

I love this kinda stuff. It's great to see Republicans marginalize themselves further.
