Somebody was talking to me about Dave Hester at work the other day. He was making some observations about him, and I acted like I only slightly knew what he was talking about even though I've probably seen every episode.

***Update April 20th, 2012*** – Dave Hester is currently involved in a lawsuit over his famous catch phrase “Yuuup.” Dave was recently granted a trademark for the phrase but unfortunately R&B star Trey Songz. Trey Songz claims he has has been using the phrase “Yuuup” since at least 2009. The problem is that both Hester and Songz are using the phrase to make money off clothing lines and merchandise. A New York judge is reviewing both cases and will make a ruling in the coming months. More details in this article: Trey Songz Sues Dave Hester Over “Yuuup!” Catchphrase

Hester’s lawyers state that Songz’s version is different in that it “resembles an animal-like or nonhuman squeal which begins with a distinct ‘yeeee’ sound before finishing with a squeal-like ‘uuuup’ sound, and is distinct and different from Hester’s more monosyllabic-sounding guttural auction bidding phrase.”
