because I'm not slamming on my breaks to fit in on the right lane that's moving 20 MPH slower than me when I'm already driving 15 MPH+ over the limit.

2)because there are people in the right lane going slow

if the opening is there, I'll move over, sure. It isn't always there though. In that case, dick bag riding my ass at 80 or so can kick rocks.

That's what I was getting at. I see people here cruising in the left lane of a 60 doing 55 all the time when there's nobody on the road. Those people should have their license revoked and be sent to Guantanamo.

This is what I do. I drive about 80 on highways, I see someone coming up fast, slide over let 'em pass. I'd rather have him in front of me, clear out the speed traps for me.

soren has a point though, sometimes there isnt room to just slide over. not gonna squeeze over. ill wait until i pass the line of cars/trucks on the right then get over when there is a larger opening.

obviously if there's no room you can't move over right away. so just speed up a bit until you are passed the tother person. also, the original question was just about how fast you should drive in the left lane, no other factors
