I found this really interesting and enjoyable to watch. I think Mitt's reaction and argument with the guy was perfectly reasonable and made me like him a lot more.

I think you're making a (somewhat oblique) point about the hypocrisy of left-wing bigots (e.g. you're not saying that there are more people who'd Mormon-bash than Jew- or Arab-bash, just that those who would never slur those non-Christian faiths are happy to show some ugliness toward LDS adherents).
Maybe true, though I haven't ever heard it.</paulinekael> But the larger and probably obvious point is that even if it doesn't happen today (well, on Jan. 20), I think it's a really, really good bet that we'll have a Mormon president before we have a president of any faith that doesn't posit the divinity of Christ.
That conspicuous (even if insincere) profession of religious faith is considered pretty much necessary for a serious presidential bid doesn't thrill me, but here we are. Am I misremembering that Goldwater (half-Jewish!) was pretty much a non-believer?

I remember when I first saw that clip thinking "why doesn't that guy run for office?"

I kind of can't believe I'm saying this, but... Beck. He has a sense of humor, and Morris's voice pretty much makes my skin crawl.

I'm okay with someone questioning a candidate's moral basis, though I'd prefer they question... the moral basis, and not a surface indication.
Oh, it takes a Twitter search or a Google search for "Magic Underpants" to see what I'm talking about (or, for some reason, following a bunch of liberals on Twitter like I do). Tony Moore, the co-creator of The Walking Dead, made the Tweet that made me come here and post.
