The makers of this film and trailer, the translator, and those who posted this need to be investigated. There apparently is no Sam Bacile. There apparently are no Jewish investors. The guy pretending to be Bacile is apparently neither Israeli nor Jewish. This is beginning to sound like a plot to spark violence against the few remaining Jews in the Arab countries. Not quite sure why a Coptic Christian would want to do this. It is likely to rebound against the Copts in Egypt. There was a lot of mischief afoot in the making and distribution of this trailer. The actors and production crew were duped about what they were making and words were dubbed over their images without their knowledge or consent, conceivably making them targets.

To say where things went off the rails with Egypt, aside from going against the guidance of the parent organization - you know - the state department, the problem really is the part about September 11. That is just dumb and disconnected The first part is fine.

How did Obama administration throw them under the bus? The guy still has a job after issuing a statement he was specifically ordered not to issue and then issuing a running series of tweets about it. It is different to just issue a statement, believing you are acting in exigency and doing what you think your bosses would want, had they been there, and doing what this guy did -- submitting it for approval, being ordered to make revisions, and then issuing it without revision.

My brother in law, who works for Citibank, told me it was at bottom. And yes, it was as stupid as it sounds, though he's lost a lot more money with Citibank stock than I have. I guess it would sound smarter to say it was a contrarian investment. It only needs to get to 42 before it's a winner for me.

I also hold gold, and as gold holder, I really applaud this move.

Truman had a plaque on his desk: "The Buck Stops Here." In the same way that CEOs are ultimately responsible for everything that happens in their organization, Obama is responsible for the official statements said by his representatives. You wouldn't want a CEO to argue "Well, I told him not to do this. It's his fault." It's throwing the guy under the bus, publicly, to avoid direct blame for the activity.

If the guy is not doing a good job representing the President, then he shouldn't have that job. That he wasn't fired reflects a lack of accountability, not lack of blame.
