At the next light, he drives up on the curb to get in front of me at a red light and flips me off. He then pulls into the McDonalds that was maybe 20 ft away. WTF, does a buddy seriously need a mcmuffin that badly? He was behind me MAYBE a quarter mile.

Maybe he was late for the child custody swap at the court-ordered location?

So I have to get a private student loan for the first time, my parents took the parent loan out last year and were unable too this year.

Any advice about which lender to go for or anything? I'm looking around and I guess I'm going with Sallie Mae, but I really don't know what the fuck I'm doing. Really anxious that I'm going to screw this up and these loans will fuck me over.

Or would we be better of if my parents got the Parent Plus loan again (i believe it is a federal loan) with a cosigner?

Hate this shit.

Thanks to your avatar, my first thought was "why does a college professor need to take out student loans?"

you should go to a cheaper school. I went to college for like 7 years and didn't pay close to 18 large. And I'm highly educated to boot.

I don't know the specifics of the Parent Plus - I'm assuming you're ineligible for Stafford? - but I think you should do whatever possible to go federal over private. With federal, your servicing company will happily put you on IBR, IBC, consolidation, forbearance, etc. With private loans, they'll just give you the old "Fuck you, pay me"

Join the Army and use that GI bill. Plus, in Illinois, you can go to a state school tuition free if you a Veteran. you can make money by going to college that way. West Point is also free and they pay you too. Air Force Academy learns you how to fly jets and stuff. That's for free too.

You just have to get creative.
