i had federal and sallie mae student loans. took me lots of years to pay off less than 10k.

i'll be pissed though if this student loan forgiveness thing goes through, though.

Yeah, it only helps federal loans, sadly, which is why I try to tell people in Nightman's situation to do whatever possible to go that route

Still probably worth it to check it out, though. While they can't help with the private loans, I think they might take them into consideration under the income % cap, so that the payments on your federals will be squat

it's monthly payments that cap at 150% of your income minus the poverty level. then at 25 years, all is forgiven, or 10 if you work in public service, which is pretty broadly defined. my museum counts, for example
