Did a little google investigating and found their website faq

The Financial Status of Startech is in Chapter 11. Why with such a superb technology has it reached this point? Because of a hostile take-over attempt that striped the company of all operating capital. The hostile takeover by "Friendly LLC" (Cute Name??) for $15,000,000 was a front for a little company called GAZPROM. This is the Russian State Owned and publicly traded power and gas company with net revenues of over 250 billion. In 2008 If they wanted Startech at $15 million... there must be a reason.

Not making a judgement on the tax rate, just clarifying.

It was 91% I think through the 50s, Kennedy/LBJ cut it to 70%.

I would imagine 75% is on the wrong side of the Laffer curve, but maybe it's shaped differently in other countries based on the size of the public sector. I dunno. It just seems like a tremendously awful policy idea driven by anger rather than any likelihood that it will improve public finances or the country's economy.

draw a wiggly line on a piece of paper, that could be a laffer curve. As econ concepts go, it has the good face

A college buddy of mine once worked for Olbermann. He says Olbermann is a miserable human being who has no friends.

Republican cannibalfest on the horizon...?

Senator Lindsey Graham, Republican of South Carolina, has pressed to reauthorize the Export-Import Bank, but at the insistence of Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, the Republican leader, he joined his party in opposing Democratic efforts to add reauthorization to a small-business finance bill. Now Mr. Graham says his party has to find a way to move a stand-alone bill, and fast.

“Come June, if this program dies, it will be the end of job creation for thousands of businesses for no good reason,” he said. “And it’ll happen on our watch, with our fingerprints on it.”

oh, opponents need spending cuts to approve it? Start with defense... and stay there

even better, just get together and dine on boiled gizzard of Norquist

Philadelphia Newspapers Set to Be Sold to Local Leaders

The sale could come as early as Friday to a consortium that includes George E. Norcross III, a Democratic power broker in South Jersey; the parking lot magnate Lewis Katz; and Edward M. Snider, chairman of the Comcast subsidiary that owns the Philadelphia Flyers, those who spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the nature of the continuing negotiations said.

Lol at George Norcross buying the Inquirer
