Unlike the vast majority of elections, which occur on a regular schedule, the recall was a fight the left picked on purpose. They picked it because they thought they could win. And they were wrong.

"big questions" can mean things like "how much time will Romney now devote to campaigning in a state he probably didn't expect to compete in" and "if he chooses to go hard there, how does he glom on to walker effectively after basically having not shown up there for walker's recall campaign?"
