Come on, deep fried anything is pretty damn good. For the record, I am pretty sure that I don't want to know what I had while I was in Asia. In Paris I remember the name for a horse dish as the waiter was recommending it, that was a near miss. In Asia I was pretty much at their mercy.

BTW - that ain't dog in your snaps, everyone knows this is...

And its not anti-women if women are earning more money at the entry level type jobs for which this law applies. That's what makes my stat about earnings in 20s relevant.

I'm not going to dredge up the details (thank you baby Google), but I'm pretty sure you know the difficulty of your assertion here. This issue has been beaten around a lot, and more than one analyst has made adjustments for job tenure. Sure, the data is murky - what labor force data isn't? - and the gap may be smaller than popularly alleged ( although 0.65/1? I pictured you as a much younger fellow), but you wouldn't win the point on the numbers anyway, even if you had a much more solid case, which you don't. (When does discrimination actually require legislation, anyway?)

You know how this kind of thing goes; the legislation chases the direction in which behavior is already going. If it hastens the process along, how does it hurt you?

disgusting:

Three months ago, in his State of the Union speech, President Obama announced a new task force to investigate mortgage fraud and bring some measure of relief to the 12 million American families who are either losing their homes or in danger of losing them.

The new Residential Mortgage-Backed Securities Working Group would be co-chaired by New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, U.S. Attorney John Walsh of Colorado and three Washington insiders from the Justice Department and the Securities and Exchange Commission.

On March 9 — 45 days after the speech and 30 days after the announcement — we met with Schneiderman in New York City and asked him for an update. He had just returned from Washington, where he had been personally looking for office space. As of that date, he had no office, no phones, no staff and no executive director. None of the 55 staff members promised by Holder had materialized. On April 2, we bumped into Schneiderman on a train leaving Washington for New York and learned that the situation was the same.

Tuesday, calls to the Justice Department’s switchboard requesting to be connected with the working group produced the answer, “I really don’t know where to send you.” After being transferred to the attorney general’s office and asking for a phone number for the working group, the answer was, “I’m not aware of one.”

The promises of the President have led to little or no concrete action.

In fact, the new Residential Mortgage-Backed Securities Working Group was the sixth such entity formed since the start of the financial crisis in 2009. The grand total of staff working for all of the previous five groups was one, according to a surprised Schneiderman. In Washington, where staffs grow like cherry blossoms, this is a remarkable occurrence.

what a jokeeee

1/3 of the House Dem caucus joins the GOP in passing a transportation bill w/ Keystone included. It might get passed the Senate too...would be a hell of a thing to watch Obama try and decide whether he'd pull the trigger on a veto.

Gov. Brian Schweitzer goes there.

While discussing swing states, Schweitzer said Romney would have a “tall order to position Hispanics to vote for him,” and I replied that was mildly ironic since Mitt’s father was born in Mexico, giving the clan a nominal claim to being Hispanic. Schweitzer replied that it is “kinda ironic given that his family came from a polygamy commune in Mexico, but then he’d have to talk about his family coming from a polygamy commune in Mexico, given the gender discrepancy.” Women, he said, are “not great fans of polygamy, 86 percent were not great fans of polygamy. I am not alleging by any stretch that Romney is a polygamist and approves of [the] polygamy lifestyle, but his father was born into [a] polygamy commune in Mexico.”

Romney’s father, George—who served as governor of Michigan and was a member of the Nixon cabinet and also a presidential candidate—was born in Mexico in 1907 to a family of American Mormons who fled to Mexico when the United States government cracked down on the practice of polygamy. George Romney’s parents were in a monogamous marriage, but Mexico was the last bastion for the practice of plural marriage in the Church of Latter Day Saints. (The church has since expressly prohibited the practice.)

While the Obama campaign has ruled Romney’s faith off-limits, it was the subject of some attacks from evangelicals during the GOP primary.

I'm trying to decide how I feel about this. On one hand, as long as it doesn't significantly affect his policy, I couldn't care less what his religion is or where his father was born. On the othe hand, I know what would be said if this was Obama's history. I like Schweitzer though, so I'm leaning towards giving it the thumbs up. Given what I feel like is Romney's agenda (slashing anything that helps the poor or middle class, even if it fucks the country for another decade or three), the gloves have to be off.

His dad was also a member of the Nixon cabinet, making it almost assured that he was a corrupt bastard.

You realize that that is Obama's history. His father was married to another woman at the time he married Obama's mother. His dad's dad had at least four wives.

Reading an account of the sweden mass-murderer trial and was taken aback to learn that the maximum penalty he can receive is 21 years (there's some other language there about "alternative arrangements" for "as long as he's a danger to society").

You know, when I try to argue against the death penalty and a person says "what do you want to make us p****** like Europe?"... this doesn't help, Sweden. This doesn't help at all.

That's actually polygny not polygamy. (the more you know)

Yes, both candidates have unique backgrounds. The difference is that one side has a sizable portion of it that thinks a candidates background negatively impacts his candidacy, while the other just uses it as fodder on commie late night talk shows.

You gotta give this eating dogs thing up. It's really silly, on par with saying Obama doesn't understand marbury v Madison.

come on, JH. You're just covering for your guy. This is exactly what romney is doing and what he did in MA in his run for governor -- he accuses his opponent of his own shortcomings in order to deflect criticism and blur the lines of distinction in those areas. People are starting to notice that Romney does this, so now you are going to accuse Obama of it. Nonsense. Are you going to next say that Obama laid off hundreds/thousands of people in his quest for more money?

I was pointing out that Romney's father was born out of the country because that was the big complaint from the birthers. Notice they don't care that Romney has the same history. Why? Because they are racists or because they have bought into the stupid idea that he's some Muslim plant. Actually, they are mostly just racists.

I'm certainly racist against people who think their side's dumb story is important and telling but the other side's dumb story is irrelevant or mean spirited.

jesus christ.

obama ate a dog in a foreign country where people do it all the time because it was given to him and he was 6 years old.

romney, as a grown ass man, put his sick dog who was constantly shitting himself on the roof of his car and periodically hosed him down over the course of a several hours long road trip.

seriously, dude?
