Basically, states can make any damn liquor laws they want. Indeed, raising the drinking to 21 nationally required congressional arm twisting of several state legislatures in the form of federal highway money.

You probably need to make a police report first. They'll tell you to go to 34 S. 11th to apply for one, which you might not get but it's worth a shot. I dunno how much it costs, probably something like 50 bucks I think. But it's worth making a police report at least, so you can have some documentation to back up your story

It's pretty easy to do in Washington State I believe.

It's a matter of degree, but no state has really sane liquor laws. State liquor laws are mostly to protect vested liquor interests, whatever they happen to be--holders of liquor licenses and other monopolistic powers. Limitations on the number of liquor licenses in a given municipality for instance, and the fact that you can't buy beer and win in most grocery stores in NJ are not sane. Can you buy wine and other liquor by mail in NJ yet? Another dumb law. But guess what--my friend has been named the Director of the Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control.

Oh, that's exactly what they're there for. We went over to P-burg for liquor all the time. I never got caught but there defintely were cops who staked out the bridges at times, especially around the major party days.
