I wrote "The Raiders and Rams left Los Angeles in 1995 and the city has not had an NFL franchise since. A number of people tried." He circled the last part. I meant to say that a number of people have tried to bring a team there since that time but they have all failed. I just must have cut it up when I was editing and never fixed it. I see that it is obviously wrong and a bad sentence as is. But the way he worded his "critique" is just insulting.
