I can guarantee that parents don't know what pho is, and my guess is that 2/3 siblings have no idea.

i didn't even bother to ask my sister. she doesn't even know what q'doba and chipotle are.

I wonder how prevalent non-Chinese takeout Asian food is or how well known it is. I guess I thought some of this stuff was more accepted than others.

I'd guess
1) Sushi/sashimi
2) Vietnamese Pho
3) Pad Thai (or other Thai noodle dishes)
4) Chinese dim sum type food
5) Korean BBQ (kalbi or bulgogi, etc...)
6) Japanese ramen
7) Peking duck

Maybe in the mix: Korean Bibimbop, Shanghai/Taiwanese soup dumplings, Singapore chicken rice.

I can't even think of any Filipino dishes. I did not include any Indian dishes (sorry td).

Kimchi?
I guess neither Mongolian barbecue nor Japanese Hibachi count.

It probably depends a lot on region.

Kimchi would probably fall under one of the Korean categories.

I'm intrigued to try some of these things, for some reason, I've only ever had sushi from wegmans and pad thai from trader joes, never really had anything else off the list, except Mongolian BBQ. I've been to a few places for that and I love it. Wish there was a place in Delaware.

around here i think pho is still completely unknown. the only thing people know in delaware is hibachi/sushi. there's a really good korean bbq place in de. actually there's 3 solid bbq places.

a thai place just opened up in delaware(they had a stand before). not sure if people know about it yet(they didn't know the stand).

There were lots of places in Seattle that exclusively served (or at least specialized in) Japanese teriyaki. I really miss them. All of the Japanese places around here seem to focus on sushi/sashimi. I want some good teriyaki... and yakisoba.

I missed some stuff like Japanese tepanyaki and yakatori (think Benihana) and Mongolian BBQ. Singapore Chili Crab. Thai/Malaysian curries. Hand pulled noodles from western China.

I think those are harder to find in a lot of areas of the U.S.

got home tonight and my sink was overflowing. there were 3 or 4 dishes in it when I left in the morning but no standing water or anything. spent two hours cleaning it up including one very gross session of ferrying putrid bowls of water from the sink to my toilet. maintenance dude came by, plunged, snaked, plunged checked out next door neighbor's whose sink is connected and said his sink was doubled over with dishes, garbage, and ping pong balls for flavor and that's probably what caused my issues. I suppose it's small consolation that it least this wasn't my fault. washed my hands about twenty times and still want a shower. then I'm getting a drink
