After VT, I remember a lot of Asian kids on facebook creating group pages about how we shouldn't stereotype all Asian people as dangerous or murderers, and that it was just an isolated incident.

I'm sad for the police officer who gave his life and the unidentified person in the parking lot. Hopefully the police officer's actions in pulling over this nut saved lives.

Back in 07, I was living in northern VA and one of my roommates had a part time job waiting tables at Red Lobster. One of his co-workers was this 20 year old Korean guy, born in the US, been here his whole life. One of his tables asked him where he was from. After the usual wrangling (this is a tricky question to ask an Asian American person, especially one who was born in the US, FYI), he said his parents were from Korea. The table asked for a different server. The server told the manager (white guy), who after talking to the table, asked them to leave rather than give them a different server.

Incidents such as this was why Asian people on facebook and in real life had to distance themselves from the tragedy.
