TenuredVulture wrote:I had a slice of cantaloupe yesterday and today for breakfast. Today, I heard about the listeria outbreak. Now, I'm not one to get all panicky about this kind of thing. And at first, I figured that since I ate the melon yesterday, and didn't get sick, the melon was fine. But I checked the incubation for listeria symptoms, and it can be up to 70 days! Now, again, I'm not really concerned, but let's say symptoms show up around Thanksgiving--everyone is going to assume it's improperly cooked turkey or eating the stuffing inside the bird, but the real cause will be this melon.
The Rocky Ford-brand cantaloupes from Jensen Farms (Colorado) were shipped from July 29 through Sept. 10 to Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and Wyoming.
The recalled cantaloupe may be labeled "Colorado Grown," "Distributed by Frontera Produce," "Jensenfarms.com" or "Sweet Rocky Fords." Not all of the recalled cantaloupes are labeled with a sticker.
