I made a Talking Heads room on turntable.fm, but I have no idea how to attract people to it...

how come my ups package has to go from the horsham processing center (13.1 mi from my house), right past my house (presumably, on the turnpike) to the West Chester processing center (24.5 mi from my house) to get loaded onto a brown truck to be finally delivered to me??

three unrelated but interesting facts from this evening.

1) I discoved I know someone who has completed a hammer stall. I am intensely envious of this man. lucky fucker.

2) In the film Charlie Wilson's War, the footage of mujahadeen shooting down planes is actually of american planes been shot down. I want to find that film's equivalent of a copy-editer and panel the fucker. That is just fucking sloppy.

3) Alasdair Gray plays a mean version of the devil in his version of faust (titled Fleck). He's a 77 year old scottish creative fucking polymath, a man whose inspirational vision of humans you could hold up there with the likes of Herzog. 77 and the fucker looked not less then a day over 60. I aspire to that in my old age. Seeing him read his own work in the flesh tonight made me want to be old and spry.

Same reason your Fed-Ex package from your neighbor goes to Memphis first. Hubs. And lots of 'em.

I almost wrote in my post that "it's not the 'memphis' reason". (which I think is no longer true anyway). Back in the heyday of oprytown, FedEx had one (and only one) sorting center. So every inbound package went post-haste to Memphis to be scanned & sorted and put into a pile destined for the end-delivery truck.

But my point is, they run delivery trucks out of Horsham (I'm fairly certain, anyway). Why doesn't the truck which services my neighborhood come from Horsham? A friend of mine's dad was a UPS bigwig- either the #1 or #2 guy at West Chester. I should buy him lunch some day and pick his brain.

They certainly do run delivery trucks out of Horsham, I see them pouring out of Electronic Dr. onto Welsh Rd. every morning. No idea why they would go from there to West Chester to deliver to you.

Usually, I'm not hungry after playing basketball. But tonight I was famished. Just about to polish off my second double hamburger and fries from Five Guys.
