I almost wrote in my post that "it's not the 'memphis' reason". (which I think is no longer true anyway). Back in the heyday of oprytown, FedEx had one (and only one) sorting center. So every inbound package went post-haste to Memphis to be scanned & sorted and put into a pile destined for the end-delivery truck.
But my point is, they run delivery trucks out of Horsham (I'm fairly certain, anyway). Why doesn't the truck which services my neighborhood come from Horsham? A friend of mine's dad was a UPS bigwig- either the #1 or #2 guy at West Chester. I should buy him lunch some day and pick his brain.
