Posters who remind me of ballplayers

Drugs Delaney is:

Jim Bouton.

A good pitcher for a few years. Then he disappeared. Was misunderstood and made a lot of team mates mad due to the things he said and did. His personality didn't fit in well in the clubhouse. Was run out of baseball but became famous anyway and he still gets mentions every now and then. There was a comeback attempt but it didn't work out. Rumored to like naked parties.

Wrote a book I believe.

Yeah, this whole thread/idea is pretty great.

I happen to like Duke Snider, so I'll take it. Thanks, Smitty.

And I got to play for the team that ripped out the hearts of the people who later became Mets fans. Bonus. :-D

People are getting compared to HoF players from decades ago and I get Randy Wolf. Way to marginalize me in every way.

Woody is Roger McDowell.

Reputation as a prankster, but also a solid contributor in a pinch. Could see him being the winning poster in a game 7 WS thread. Could probably also pull off a Seinfeld cameo, especially if Bucky and PtK were involved.

I'd buy Randy Wolf a day pass to the Hall anytime.

Well, anytime admission is free.

Rex Hudler, no questions asked
you sure do seem to have a lot of time on your hands to be on this forum? Do you have a job? Are you a shut-in?

I just want to let everyone know that the purpose of this thread was just to have a little fun. I'm not trying to offend anyone. If that happens I'm just going to stop doing it because it's supposed to be a fun thing and nothing more.

I started doing this in response to the off-season Hall of Fame hi-jinx. This stuff is all supposed to be fun things to do whilst waiting for the off-season to end.

I began by doing a lot of folks who I think I have a fairly clear idea about as far as their personality has developed on the board (which isn't necessarily how they are in real life).

Most of those guys have received some support in the H of Fame thing and were guys I voted for or considered voting for or something like that. So I, for the most part, used H of Fame players as comps.

The player I associate with a poster is not some kind of judgment about the worth of a person in real life or anything like that. I'm just having some fun with pals and I'm hoping everyone else is too. If not, I'll just stop.

As long as you don't compare someone to a player closely associated with the Mets, I don't think there is any reason for anyone to feel butthurt.

If I end up finding t-shirt dress, can I get upgraded to, like, John Denny or something?

Well, I don't know how to read my assigned analog as Bill Lee? Yeah, I was sort of offended. I'm not some doper smoking lunatic. Also, he's no HOFer.

My avatar was controversial, misunderstood and never making the HOF but a worthy debate about whether he should. That feels about right. I strikeout a lot but hit a few long bombs.

It's not about who I think someone thinks I am in real life...

That all being said -- the spirit of this is great Smitty and keep going. No one cares about my sour grapes anyway. (more R Allen = sour grapes :-)

It's totally fun and enjoyable.

I'm just bustin your balls a little...
