Frank Robinson. Very hard-nosed ballplayer who never suffered fools gladly. Had a good sense of humor and was a good leader as evidenced by him being in charge of the Kangaroo Court while an Oriole -- he certainly had an interest in the law.

He won an MVP with the Reds but he suddenly changed jobs in mid-career as he was shipped off to Baltimore. He won another MVP and led another team to a World Series.

Very solid credentials.

For some reason, he really dislikes J. C. Romero.

the funny thing is that I look just like Frank Robinson
I know what you're asking yourself and the answer is yes. I have a nick name for my penis. Its called the Octagon, but I also nick named my testes - my left one is James Westfall and my right one is Doctor Kenneth Noisewater.

What about Rube Waddell?

actually, if you've read up on Rube, you'd think that Phight On! would be him. Or else the original Cleveland Indian (I can't remember his name right now)

MattS is:

Christy Mathewson. An educated man playing for a team of roughnecks led by a roughneck. He was a very heroic figure and one of the most famous and popular players of his day. He was an easy Hall of Famer and one of the greatest pitchers ever.

The Big Six didn't invent the Sierraball, I mean the screwball, but he perfected it. The pitch, which was a new way to throw a baseball -- one that moved in the opposite direction of conventional pitches -- was called the fadeaway.

Also known simply as Matty, he was the hero of the 1905 World Series vs. the A's. He won three complete game shutouts.

That seems to be strangely appropriate for a few reasons.

But Bucky is the one who loves firetrucks. Now I'm not sure if he would go running off the mound to chase one, but you never know.

Bill James speculated that Waddell may have been mentally challenged for real. He made sense. I don't think anyone here fits that bill -- certainly no one that I'd try to do a comp with.

I would believe Bucky chasing the fire trucks though.

Especially if it was hauling a few dozen cases of Diet Mountain Dew.

Each one of smitty's comparison's is like a resounding, reproachful smack in the gob, telling me that I should have put him on my ballot.

BigEd76 is Charlie Gehringer.

One of the best 2Bman of all time, he was known as "The Mechanical Man."

Known for his consistency as a hitter and fielder, Gehringer was given the nickname "The Mechanical Man" by Yankee pitcher Lefty Gomez.[2] Teammate Doc Cramer quipped: "You wind him up Opening Day and forget him."[3] A durable player, Gehringer had two consecutive game streaks of more than 500 games—one from 1927 to 1931 and the other from 1931 to 1935.[4]

Known as a quiet guy, Ty Cobb said this about him:

"He'd (Charlie Gehringer) say hello at the start of Spring Training and goodbye at the end of the season and the rest of the time he let his bat and glove do all the talking for him." - Ty Cobb

He was famous for what he didn't say more than for what he did say.

me too, unless I'm ricky jordan.

though I'm not sure he's taking requests. It seems to happen when he feels the inspiration, which maybe is as it should be

Requests are fine. I'm actually putting time and thought into this although I'm not sure it's showing in the results.

I have an idea for Monkeyboy and I'm researching Mose. This is harder than it looks because I'm actually trying to make sense with these. They make sense to me anyways.
