you sure do seem to have a lot of time on your hands to be on this forum? Do you have a job? Are you a shut-in?

If this is about a job at the State University of New Jersey, you could really do a lot worse than a nice job with government benefits, in a University setting, etc., so I'd say go for it.

However, aside maybe from that awful Bridgeton part of the state, the Brunswick area is my least favorite part of New Jersey.

it's a job at Strayer University. it's kinda moot, since it's a lot of nights and weekends, so they'd have to pay me like 60+, which they won't

Geesh. Talk about your pork projects (or its more proper name "American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 ")- Do we really need a superhighway from Medford Lakes to Philadelphia? Seems like a waste to me.

I guess I have to read the Harvard Business Review to get my Justin Fox fix. Not happy about this.

I get excited whenever I get a new email thinking it might be a job but it's always just some dumb message from obama

You've just described the last month or two of my life. I'm getting sick of this whole process, especially places that lead you on then suddenly cut off contact.

I'm driving my friends absolutely crazy because this is my first real professional job search and I'm kinda ridiculously impatient, but I really don't see why places don't give a short e-mail just saying that they've received your application and are considering it or thanks but no thanks (no one has led me on yet but I've only been at it for two weeks) within two or three days. I know they get a ton of apps but I think that sounds reasonable.

The "thanks but no thanks" one would seem to be in their best interest, in terms of thwarting follow up.

FWIW, I searched for a job for the better part of two years, and of the 15 or so interviews I got, probably 13 of them contacted me within 48 hours of me sending my resume.

What you're talking about here would be like a full-time position and/or lots of technology investment. And then they wouldn't be able to hire you

I had one place get back to me in under 2-3 hours. Told me that they were starting interviews in a few weeks, but to expect a phone call the next day. No phone call. They'd seen the resume before so it wasn't that they saw something they didn't like. Been two weeks now since I spoke with them.

The other place, a political strategy firm in NYC, got back to me 3 weeks after I emailed them. It's a fairly large firm, so I was surprised when it was one of the founders that contacted me. Had an email exchange and told him I'd be willing to do an unpaid internship if it could lead to employment. He said it could. So I was expecting to get an interview or an offer, but since then no contact and he hasn't returned my email. That's been about a month now.

I've been at this since late November, not too long, but this really sucks. I've probably got 80-100 apps and letters out there right now.
